NEW ENGLAND CHIPPENDALE MAHOGANY BALL AND CLAW DROP LEAF TABLE.

Mid 18th century. Massachusetts, probably Salem having squared mahogany top and leaves. The base with 4 cabriole legs terminating in well developed lofty claw feet, the aprons with scallop decoration and scrolling returns, constructed with 2 hinged legs to support the leaves and having a dovetailed center support brace. SIZE: 17″ x 52″ 28″ h. CONDITION: Overall very good with possible minor repairs to knee returns, small loss to apron on one end, and inset butterflies to stabilize small age crack on top, losses and repairs to leaf rule joint. 9-94845 (1,500-2,500) – Lot 2048
