CARVED AND PAINTED EAGLE PLAQUE WITH BANNER. Late 19th century, New England. In the manner of a Bellamy eagle, the three dimensional carved and turned eagle’s head applied to carved wings and patriotic shield with attached star carved banner “DON’T GIVE UP THE SHIP” painted red, white and blue. The eagle, with crusty varnish surface. SIZE: 28″ L. CONDITION: Untouched original surfaces with minor age splits and with small loss to beak tip. Otherwise good. 9-91560 (1,000-1,500)
