WINCHESTER SECOND MODEL 1873 RIFLE.

SN 50488. Cal. .44 WCF. 24″ rnd bbl, full mag, second model style receiver with guide rail attached by screw, blue finish, straight grained American walnut stocks with crescent butt and factory sling swivels. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl and mag tube show a smooth plum/brown patina overall with traces of blue in protected areas. Sporting sights are very good. Bbl marking is clear. Bore is bright with strong rifling. Receiver retains 30-40% of the blue finish with the balance drifting to a smooth plum/brown patina. Loading gate shows traces of fire blue. Elevator is a mustard/brown patina with a few small dents. Hammer and lever are a smooth brown patina with hints of case color. Tang markings are sharp and clear. Stocks are very good, full sized with some very light cleaning and a coat of old varnish applied. Stocks have minor handling marks overall. Buttplate and forend cap are a smooth plum/brown patina. A very nice example of a second model ’73 rifle in far above average condition with a great bore. 51379-1 TEP (7,000-9,000) – Lot 2016
