*WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 SPECIAL ORDER LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 50 Express. Scarce rifle in a scarce caliber with 26″ oct. to round bbl, button magazine, uncheckered wood with straight stock that has been extended. The foreend cap and buttstock are mounted with sling eyes. Bbl is mounted with a scarce three-position front sight and a 3-leaf platinum line express sight and the top tang has a Lyman peep sight. Accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum yellow sheet identifying this rifle as described above and having been shipped with a shotgun butt on 6/18/1902. SN 125574. CONDITION: As noted, very good, plus. The bbl retains 95-96% strong original blue, foreend cap 97-98% original blue and the receiver about 85% original blue, thinner on the left side. Wood is sound and retains 95% plus, original varnish except on the 3/4″ butt extension, which is a different color. Lever and hammer retain about 90% case colors turned silver on the edge of the lever. Brilliant shiny bore. 4-46604 JR17 (8,000-12,000)
