GRISWOLD CONFEDERATE FOOT OFFICER’S SWORD.

GRISWOLD CONFEDERATE FOOT OFFICER’S SWORD. 29-1/4″ single Fuller blade is marked “T.G.& Co.” on the left ricasso. Grip has smooth leather covering with a twisted wire wrap. Leather scabbard has brass mountings, the throat carrying the #14. Leather has “XVII” scratched into it on the reverse. CONDITION: Gray patina with spots of rust stains, moderate dents on the edge of the blade. Counter guard quillion is bent forward, the wrap has a small chip otherwise fine. Scabbard has been varnished and has areas of loss. Drag is badly battered. Center carrying ring has been resoldered and it and the drag have a very dark patina. 4-46192 FS574 (8,500-12,500)
