Marked “ALEXr HENRY 8 SOUTH St ANDREW St. EDINBURGH” behind the fancy rear sight and “PATENT N. 338 GAUGE 451.” in front of it. Globe front sight is adjustable for windage. Top flat of the bbl is matted from the front sight to the patent marking. Lockplate is engraved with a; running stag and is marked in old English letters “Alexr. Henry”. Patchbox is engraved with a standing stag and another stag feeding on a tree is engraved on the buttplate. English oak case is lined with tan pig skin and contains a brass muzzle protector, a case-hardening takedown tool with brass caps on the end containing an extra screwdriver bit, the iron shaft has a nipple pick and nipple wrench. The parts are both numbered 12. The pieces are stored in separate compartments in a removable drawer, which contains another screwdriver but is missing a thinner implement. The cover for the latter compartment is missing its leather covering. CONDITION: Retains most of the Damascus pattern on the bbl, thin above the forearm. Bright case-hardening color on the tang, slightly thin on the lock, strong again on the patchbox. About half the blue is gone form the triggerguard and only traces remain on the buttplate. Wood is sharp but has two cracks on the forearm from removing the bbl, one has been repaired the other has not. Case has probably been refinished on the outside but is excellent on the inside except for the one compartment lid. Alex Henry paper label is bright. Accessories are fine. Missing the key. 4-46043 FS534 (5,000-7,000)
