*IMPORTANT DWM PROTOTYPE LUGER, 9MM WITH HEAVY BARREL, SN10025B.

SN 10025B. Cal. 9 mm Parabellum. DWM only made a few Lugers in the 100xxB serial range, the majority being experimental pistols. This particular gun, made just before the series of three prototypes (serial nos 10029B/10030B/10031B) that Georg Luger personally delivered to the U.S. Board of Ordnance at Springfield Armory in May of 1903, shares their principle features in having a fat 4″ bbl with plain conical chamber and no chamber ring. DWM on center toggle link. Dished toggles with a toggle latch. Safety lever with short checkered head. Wide grip safety. Checkered walnut grips. Disassembly shows that all numbered parts are matching, including each grip, with an unnumbered firing pin, takedown lever, trigger, safety, and hold open. Firing pin has a broken tip and retainer for spring is missing the guide. Proper plain wood bottom magazine. CONDITION: Approx 80% orig salt blue with minor etching on the right side of bbl band and light freckling and fading in usual areas of contact, particularly over the front and back straps. Comparable condition strawed parts that show no suggestion of enhancement. Oil darkened grips with blunted checkering, especially over the lower portion of each grip near the grip screws. VG mag with moderate oxidation of the tinned body and oil darkened plug. Dull bore with shallow rifling and dark grooves. Perfect manual mechanics. An exceptionally rare Luger that is seldom offered for sale. 51729-1 LMA (15,000-20,000) C&R – Lot 1557
