SCARCE LARGE FRAME REID “MY FRIEND” KNUCKLEDUSTER IN .32 CAL WITH 3″ BARREL.

SN 11952. Cal. 32. A rare example of this little known variation. Standard configuration frame marked on top left “MY FRIEND PATD DEC. 26, 1865”. Bronze frame. Cylinder pin with matching SN at front of frame. Hammer originally in the white. Cylinder with nickel finish. Cylinder pin locking device at front of frame. Grip sides with very tasteful large open floral scroll. Front of trigger guard with SN, butt with knurling in shield motif. Top strap nicely wave engraved and background shaded, recoil shield with light line engraving. Cyl and bbl both orig blued. Our consignor along with noted author Taylor Bowen accounted for approx thirty of three 3″ bbl guns, making this a very scarce and desirable configuration. Also included with gun is a 2006 dated letter outlining the details of these 3″ bbl guns from author Taylor Bowen to our consignor. PROVENANCE: The Carmen Gianforte Collection. CONDITION: Very good and totally orig. Frame retains traces of orig nickel, but mostly shows a beautiful patinated finish. Cylinder retains 25-30% balancing having toned. Bbl is very good with a trace of orig blue remaining. Mechanics are crisp. 49895-59 JSL61 (2,500-4,000) – Lot 1460
