SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1879 TRAP DOOR RIFLE. Cal. 45-70. Standard rifle with 32-1/2″ bbl, ski-jump rear sight, 2-bbl bands, slotted button head ramrod, low arch breech block, 1-pc stock with 1882 cartouche. SN 203715. CONDITION: Bbl retains mostly a blue-brown patina, thin in front of the sight. Breech block retains 70-75% good case colors under a dirty brown patina. Tang also with good case colors. Lockplate retains about 80% finish. Wood is sound with a couple of gouges, usual handling use, nicks and dings with most of an old refinish. Excellent, bright shiny bore. 4-47240 JR475 (400-700)
