LYNN BOGUE HUNT (American, 1878-1960) TWO WORKS: MOURNING DOVES AND BAND-TAILED PIGEONS.

Gouache on board Housed in identical painted wood frames, several identification labels on versa Signed lower left and right “Lynn Bogue Hunt” From a simple line drawing for a the magazine “Sports Afield” in 1897, to an elaborate cover for “Field and Stream” in 1951, Lynn Hunt has come to be seen as one of the most important American wildlife artists. Hunt worked the Golden Age of magazine illustration, and was undoubtedly one of the stars that made the decades around the turn of the century so memorable. With over 100 covers for “Field and Stream” alone, other publications to which he contributed include “Collier’s” and the “Saturday Evening Post” among others. Hunt is known for creating one of the earliest duck stamp illustrations, as well as illustrating more than 40 books.
