*VERY FINE LUIGI FRANCHI “IMPERIALE MONTE CARLO EXTRA” SIDELOCK GAME GUN WITH FINE GAME SCENE ENGRAVING BY F. GALEAZZI WITH CASE.

SN 15159. (1997) Cal. 12 ga. 2-3/4″ Chambers. 28″ Chopper lump bbls with slightly raised, matted game rib, are engraved “FRANCHI S. P. A. BRESCIA MADE IN ITALY” on side of left bbl. Bbl flats are stamped with 1997 Italian nitro proofs for 2-3/4″ chambers, and side of right bbl is engraved with importers name and address (Beretta USA). Coin finished sidelock action features non-automatic safety (S inlaid in gold), bushed strikers, and single non-selective trigger. Action is engraved with full coverage well cut minuscule scroll, as background to sprays of roses and foliage, surrounding nicely rendered Bulino game scenes; hunter firing at flight of doves on bottom of action; flock of geese settling into marsh on left lockplate, and a covey of quail flushing as pair of pointers, one pointing, look on. Each scene is signed at bottom by the highly regarded “F. Galeazzi”. Single beaded small bow trigger guard with matching scroll has SN at grip. Nicely marbled and lightly figured, dense European walnut capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14-3/4″ over brown leather covered pad and features standard point pattern checkering. Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release, and nicely inlet gold device engraved with grade (Imperiale Monte Carlo Extra) on central diamond. Bore diameter: left -.722, right – .723. Bore restrictions: screw chokes. Drop at heel: 2-1/4″, drop at comb: 1-1/2″. Cast off approx 1/4″. Weight: 7 lbs. 9 oz. LOP: 14-3/4″. Good quality dark leather case is lined in green felt, and has dark leather gold embossed Franchi label in lid. Case contains rosewood and brass 3-pc cleaning rod, a pair of rosewood and brass snap caps marked with grade, three Briley spare choke tubes (2 in gun), and an installation wrench. CONDITION: Excellent, with little evidence of use, with only some minor marks in what appear to be orig finishes. Bores are excellent. Action is tight. Ejectors are strong and in time. Trigger appears to work. Case leather is excellent, but shows minor scuffs. Interior cloth is excellent, lightly soiled. Label has some dings.
