RARE COLT 1860 ARMY LONG CYLINDER CONVERSION IN UNIQUE ONE OF A KIND HOLSTER MADE OF HEAVY LEATHER WITH HANGING LOOPS.

SN 138421. Cal. 44. Standard configuration with 8″ bbl. Added blade front sight. Nickel plated with rear dove-tail sight also present. 6-shot rnd long cylinder. Left side of frame marked Colt’s Patent. 3-screw variation. No loading gate present. 1-pc walnut grips. Brass front strap with iron backstrap. Holster is black leather, unmarked with leather stitching and appears coarse overall. This revolver is pictured in “Colt Conversions” by McDowell on pg 407 with an erroneous attribution to the Firth Collection. PROVENANCE: The Estate of G. W. “Bill” Stewart of Sonora, Texas. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl retains 70-75% orig nickel finish with some flaking mostly on right side of bbl. Cylinder with 50% orig nickel finish. Frame with 30% orig nickel finish. Backstrap with 30-40% orig nickel finish. 1-pc walnut grips with losses at toe. Minor pin in right grip and scattered handling marks. Holster is good with minor age drying.
