Pen and ink wash on paper,en grisaille Housed in a black frame, matted under glass Signed lower center “Frederic Remington” Note: “On the Trail” is listed in the Frederic Remington Catalogue Raisonne as number 01875 and dated 1894. The work appeared in the October of 1894 edition of The Cosmopolitan, as an illustration for “A Hot Trail” by Powhatan Clarke. The article was about an American cavalry outfit at Fort Thomas Arizona who were sent out to search for Apaches responsible for killing a man a few miles from their post.
