CIVIL WAR MODEL 1860 COLT ARMY REVOLVER.

SN 32635/15193. Cal. 44. Original example of Civil War Colt model 1860 Army which was the most popular cavalry side arm of the Civil War. This example made early in 1862 with 4-screw frame cut for shoulder stock still retains inspectors cartouche on left grip and appears complete, original and authentic. PROVENANCE: The Brad Shepherd Collection. CONDITION: Good to very good overall, all matching SNs with exception of cyl which is numbered 15193 but has matching color and condition, not uncommon for U.S. martials to have interchanged parts in the field. SN 32635 is found on bbl, frame, trigger guard, backstrap and last 4 digits are found on wedge and inside grip channel. Markings are all discernible though bbl address is weak. Grips are well fit with hand worn patina, cartouche is visible in outline only on left side which also has large chip at rear toe. Cyl retains 10-20% of its rolled cyl scene. Mechanically gun functions well with crisp rifling in bore. 50062-72 JS (1,000-1,500) – Lot 1239
