*FACTORY ENGRAVED CRESCENT GRADE SAVAGE MODEL 1899 TAKEDOWN RIFLE WITH WINCHESTER B-5 SCOPE.

SN 116850. Cal. 22 HP. 20″ rnd bbl, gold bead front sight, Lyman 2-leaf folding sight, tang mounted folding peep sight. Takedown receiver embellished with factory engraving with circular vignette of leaping buck on left side and circular vignette of buck drinking at stream on right side. Balance of receiver sides covered in scroll work with engraving continuing towards bottom of receiver. Receiver breech ring with floral engraving, as is forend takedown metal. This gun is fitted with a straight grip stock of wonderful feather grained walnut with shotgun butt. Checkered in fleur-de-lis pattern at both grip and forend. Checkered cheek panels. Savage quality Indian Head logo hard rubber buttplate. Case colored lever. Winchester B-5 scope with rings, no bases. CONDITION: About good. This gun was subjected to poor storage. Bbl is heavily rusted with four holes drilled into bbl top. Machined cut 1″ from muzzle at bottom of bbl. Receiver shows good amount of orig Savage high polish blue but is covered by generous rust. Forend assembly does not lock into place. Traces of case color on lever. Buttstock and forend are sound and uncracked with much orig finish evident but some heavy handling marks scattered. Checkering is sharp. Buttplate damaged at toe. Mechanics good. Bore dark. Scope is heavily rusted. This gun would benefit from a restoration. 50880-2 TJW (3,500-5,500) C&R – Lot 1227
