Watercolor on paper Housed in a modern gilt frame with watercolor highlighted mat Unsigned, titled and dated on reverse in pen SIZE: Actual 5″ h x 8-1/3″ w. Overall 13-1/2″ h x 16-1/2″ w. PROVENANCE: From a coastal Maine collection. Accompanying the lot is a copy of a Gimbel Brothers, New York, typed letter concerning the purchase and the enclosing of a certificate issued by Hammer Galleries and a copy of this letter is accompanying the lot. The Hammer Galleries letter indicates that the piece is from the JMW Turner collection of the late John Anderson Jr. Author of “The Unknown Turner” founder of the Anderson Galleries dated 1941.
