RARE WEDGWOOD FAIRYLAND LUSTRE CORAL & BRONZE LAHORE BOWL.

Wedgwood Fairyland Lustre Imperial bowl is decorated on the exterior with copper and bronze panels of Indian riders atop coral colored stags all with gilded and coral decorated background. Bowl is decorated on the interior with colorful pink, red and blue drapes hanging from the rim with lavender, red and black ornaments and lanterns scattered about the bowl against a pearlescent background. The center medallion is a variant of Silenus. Signed on the underside with gold Portland vase mark, “Wedgwood Made in England”. Note: It is unusual to find the Coral and Bronze pattern in large Imperial bowls. In comparison with the Lahore bowl in Wedgwood Fairyland Lustre by Una des Fontaines, the Lahore bowl, Plate 55, Page 233; the inside and outside patterns have been reversed, probably for artistic effect.
