HUDSON BAY COMPANY COIN SILVER TRADE CROSS.

Early 19th century. The center is stamped “HBC” and an “HB” is stamped on each of the four arms. The top is pierced for suspension. Total weight is 10.3dwt. Coin silver ornaments, especially crosses, were a popular medium of exchange during the heyday of Canada’s fur industry. Hudson Bay Company claims to have distributed it’s own silver between 1795-1821. SIZE: 4-3/8″ x 3″. PROVENANCE: From an Unreserved Texas Collection.
