FINE AND SCARCE CIVIL WAR ALLEN & WHEELOCK CENTER HAMMER ARMY PERCUSSION REVOLVER.

SN 84. Cal. 44. Blue finish with 7-1/2″ oct to rnd bbl, pinched post dovetail brass front sight. Left side of bbl flat marked “ALLEN & WHEELOCK. WORCESTER. MASS. US / ALLEN’S PT’S. JAN. 13. DEC. 15. 1857 SEPT. 7…” This is a fine example retaining most of its orig finish that is possibly unfired. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Phil A. Bleakney, Jr. CONDITION: Very fine overall. All matching. Bbl retains about 20-30% orig blue, mostly on the oct area with the rnd section a smooth gray metal patina; frame retains about 40-50% glossy orig blue with the balance grey/plum. Trigger guard and hammer retain muted case colors with balance grey. Grip straps are mostly a grey/brown patina with traces of orig bright blue. Grips are sound and solid, well fit retaining 90% plus orig varnish, light edge wear. Cylinder retains about 20% orig splotchy blue with balance grey and white drag line. Strong blue finish still found in chambers and bore. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bore. 49059-137 JS (3,000-5,000) – Lot 1128
