BOXED GERMAN PENNY TOY TRAIN WITH R&C TROLLEY.

A wonderful 15-piece penny toy train, engine cab being marked with the initials “J.L.H.” manufactured by Hess. Passenger cars are lithographed in red, brown, orange & blue, and included are four flat cars with lumber loads, all contained within its original cardboard box. Lid of box has small inset photo of a castle with a train running in the background. Engine must have been quite powerful to have pulled 14 cars! A charming display in its original box. The trolley has fabulous lithography! Seated within the simulated windows are a bevy of adults & children, all in the turn of the century attire. A large 3-dimensional trolley operator stands on one platform, a reversible trolley pole and simulated lamps on either end. A seldom found or seen toy, again this has fabulous lithography and is in remarkable all-original condition. Windup mechanism is intact & functional with key protruding from side of trolley. SIZE: Box: 9-1/2″ l x 7″ d. Overall trolley: 6-3/8″ l. PROVENANCE: The Estate of Carol and Jerry Soling. CONDITION: Toy train overall is very good plus with some typical minor oxidation to litho finish, most notable on engine boiler. Box itself is relatively solid, missing a few pieces of lid flap cardboard. As stated above, also a light cleaning to remove years of shelf dust would be beneficial, a few minor chips to red framework of trolley. Litho section is vibrant and very fine plus. 1-14736 (300-500) – Lot 1111
