PAIR OF PAN-G AND ALABAMA COON JIGGER DANCERS.

The first toy, very unusual and seldom found, depicting a white gentleman dancing atop of a simulated wooden base purportedly according to the toy itself was manufactured by C.E. Carter Co. manufacturer of mechanical toys with a factory in Erie, PA… the same place Louis Marx also had a factory. Oftentimes toy companies copied each others designs and obviously that is the case with this particular toy. The accompanying lot is the Alabama Coon Jigger, also known as TOMBO, produced by Ferdinand Strauss. There were many manufacturers of virtually the same toy, just alternating their clothing and/or box upon which the dancer stood. Even the same company would alter their name or colorful outfits that the said dancer wore. Both toys are in exceptional all-original condition, very fine to near mint. Both toys are mechanically in working order, and both toys show virtually no wear to the platform where they danced. SIZE: Each approx 10″ t. PROVENANCE: The Estate of Carol and Jerry Soling. CONDITION: As stated above. 1-14738 (650-950) – Lot 1090
