BING ENGLISH STYLE DOUBLE DECKER BUS AND PAYA DOUBLE DECKER BUS.

The Bing bus is a great little tin windup bus from the 1920’s. This toy depicts the typical English double-decker bus seen on the streets of London. An abundance of advertising encompassing the upper level as well as the circular staircase. Bing trademark is on upper level of rear of bus. Clockwork mechanism is intact and in working order. Bing manufactured several buses of this nature and this was perhaps the least elaborate, but still quite an appealing toy. The Paya version marked with a “PH” on the drivers door is also from the 1920’s and this depicts the English style bus with elaborate lithography including passengers in the various windows. The advertising is in Spanish and obviously this toy was made for the Spanish market, but exported as well. Windup mechanism is in function condition. SIZE: 7-1/4″ and 8-1/2″ respectively. PROVENANCE: The Estate of Carol and Jerry Soling. CONDITION: The Bing bus is in good to very good condition, lightly heavier wear/paint loss to white section of upper level. The Paya version overall is in very good to fine condition with a bright litho finish. 1-14693 (800-1,200) – Lot 1085
