RARE WINCHESTER MODEL 1876 “OPEN TOP” OCTAGON BARREL FULL MAGAZINE SPORTING RIFLE WITH 28″ BARREL.

SN 2500. Cal. 45-60. 28″ oct bbl. Blue finish. Straight grained American walnut stocks with crescent buttplate. A hard to find variation of a 76 Winchester rifle which has no provision for a dust cover. CONDITION: Good. Bbl shows a mottled brown patina with some heavy staining towards the muzzle. High point wear. Sharp bbl marking. Rear sight is a replacement. Bore is dark with visible rifling. Receiver shows a gray-brown patina overall with some traces of blue in protected areas around side plate. Some scratching on right side plate. Elevator shows some dents. Hammer and lever are a gray-brown patina. Stocks are good, slightly undersized and show numerous mars and dents commensurate with age of rifle. A very rare, hard to find variation of the Winchester model 76 rifle. 49971-22 TEP (2,000-3,000) – Lot 1057
