WINCHESTER THIRD MODEL 1873 OCTAGON BARREL FULL MAGAZINE RIFLE IN 22 CALIBER.

SN 373408 B. Cal. 22 S. 24″ bbl, full magazine, blue finish. Straight grain American walnut stocks and crescent butt. Bbl has 2-line Winchester address in front of rear sight. Cal mark behind sight. Standard sights for this model. Receiver is of the stepped variety. Receiver has no loading port. Upper tang is marked “1873” with finials. SN is stamped behind trigger guard. Cal is marked on elevator. Stock has crescent buttplate and steel fore-end cap. “MH” is carved in front of buttplate tang. PROVENANCE: The Dr. Robert G. Cox Estate Collection. CONDITION: Fair. Bbl has been cleaned with naval jelly and is a steel gray finish. Magazine tube is a plumb brown finish. Bbl marks are sharp. Magazine is missing. Sights are good. Bore is black with only slight traces of rifling. Receiver is a mottled blue gray patina with punch-marks on left side plate and some roughness overall. Tang markings are sharp. Elevator is a mustard patina with sharp mark and some small dents. Stocks are good, full sized, with mars and scratches overall. Fore-end has been cleaned and slightly undersized at the forward end. Buttplate is a gray brown patina with some roughness. Fore-end cap has been cleaned with some pitting. 50019-373 TEP (500-700) – Lot 1053
