WINCHESTER EARLY 3RD MODEL 1873 OCTAGON BARREL FULL MAGAZINE RIFLE WITH CRESCENT BUTT.

SN 118256A. Cal. 44 WCF. 23″ bbl, full magazine, blue finish. Straight grain American walnut stocks with crescent butt. Bbl and magazine tube have been shortened at the muzzle end. Bbl has 2-line Winchester address in front of rear sight. Sights are standard. Bbl has no cal mark, which is correct. Receiver has “Model 1873” on upper tang with finials. SN is stamped on lower tang. Buttstock has crescent buttplate. Fore-end has steel cap. CONDITION: Good. Bbl is a mottled gray brown patina overall with worn high-points. Bbl address is clear. Sights are good. Bore is very dark with traces of rifling. Receiver is a gray brown patina overall. Dust cover is rough. Receiver screws are marred. Hammer and lever are a dark brown patina. Lever has considerable roughness. Tang mark is sharp. SN is sharp. Elevator has mustard patina and is un-marked. Stocks are very good, slightly undersized with an old coat of varnish. Stocks have handling marks overall. Buttplate is a rough brown patina. Fore-end cap is a silver gray patina. An old Winchester that has been around. 50111-6 TEP (750-1,250) – Lot 1050
