WINCHESTER 3RD MODEL 1873 ROUND BARREL HALF MAGAZINE RIFLE WITH CRESCENT BUTT.

SN 381679 B. Cal. 38 WCF. 24″ bbl, half mag, blue finish, straight grain American walnut stocks with crescent butt and steel forend cap. Bbl has standard 2-line Winchester address in front of sight. Standard sights for this model. Half mag with button. Receiver of the stepped variety. Upper tangs is marked “Model 1873” with finials. Lower tang has SN stamped behind lever. Elevator is stamped “38 Cal”. Stocks are varnish finished with crescent butt and steel forend cap. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl has a plum/brown patina overall with slight traces of blue around the sights. Markings are sharp. Sights are good. Front sight has some red paint. Bore is frosty with strong rifling. Receiver is a smooth plum/brown patina overall with slight traces of blue at the rear near hammer. Some erosion on top of right sideplate. Tang markings are sharp. Elevator has a mustard patina with a sharp mark and a small dent. Left elevator spring screw is marred, as is the frame around it. Hammer retains traces of case color that is vivid in protected areas on front face. Lever is a silver/gray patina. Stocks are good, undersized and have been cleaned with a new coat of varnish applied. Buttstock has a hole filled where there was a sling ring attached. Forearm also has a hole filled behind forend cap. Buttplate and forend cap are a smooth gray/brown patina. Forend cap has some dents on the left side. A good honest Model 1873 Winchester in a scarce configuration. 49971-14 TEP (750-1,250) – Lot 1047
