PAINTED SHIMER BANK BUILDING AND FIVE PAINTED CUPOLA BANKS BY J. & E. STEVENS.

The first bank, manufactured by Shimer, which was a relatively obscure company outside of Bethlehem, PA, manufactured as a sideline toys and banks. This company later became associated with Dent Hardware in nearby Allentown, PA, and later with the Kenton Toy Co. in Kenton, OH. Shimer was an early toy company and their design of toys & banks had intricate detailed castings. This particular bank which is normally found in japanned finish is painted in a yellow with a coffee colored roof and base plate, and highlights are in a mustard color. Bank retains its original twist pin and overall paint finish is good to very good. A really tough still bank to find in painted finish! The cupola banks are quite interesting due to the fact that they are painted versions and trim is highlighted in various colors. These five banks make a nice display and are quite impressive as a grouping. Banks are in original finish and all retain their original screws. SIZE: Shimer: 6″ t. Cupolas: 3-1/4″ t & 4″ t respectively. PROVENANCE: The Estate of Carol and Jerry Soling. CONDITION: Overall banks are good to very good. 1-4652-1, 1-14656-2, 14671-2 (750-950) – Lot 1031
