LOT OF FOUR ALLEN & WHEELOCK BAR HAMMER POCKET REVOLVERS. Cal 34. 3 are large frame SN 389, 659, & 1011. One has 3” oct bbl, another a 2-7/8” oct bbl and the other 3-7/8” oct bbl. All have bag handles with 2-pc walnut grips. The long bbl one has no finish, light pitting, very good grips, good mechanics. The other two have no finish, fair to good grips, good cylinder scene, good mechanics and one is missing the trigger guard. The 4th piece, SN 271, is a small frame model with 2-1/2” oct bbl, bag handle with 2-pc wood grip. Scarce early revolver with 1-3/4” oct bbl, cone shaped German silver front sight, side hammer that strikes off center, groove top frame for sighting and rear entry cylinder pin with 2-pc walnut grips. CONDITION: About good. No original finish remains. Silver-brown patina with light surface rust, heavy around the forcing cone. Cylinder retains 85-90% original scene. ALLEN & WHEELOCK SIDE HAMMER POCKET PERCUSSION REVOLVER. Cal 28. SN 346. Tiny percussion revolver with 2-1/4” oct bbl, German silver front sight, with flared butt, 2-pc walnut grips. The 5-shot cylinder has a rolled scene of deer, dogs, and birds, and the frame has light arabesque pattern engravings. CONDITION: Good. No original finish remains being a dark brown patina overall. SMITH & WESSON NO. 1 2ND ISSUE REVOLVER. Cal 22 short. SN 25551. Standard model with 3 patent dates on the cylinder. It has 3-1/4” oct bbl, silver plated brass frame with 2-pc rosewood grips. CONDITION: About good. All matching. Bbl and cylinder have been cleaned bright and smooth. Frame retains about 85% original silver plate. LOT OF TWO ALLEN & WHEELOCK SIDE HAMMER RIM FIRE REVOLVERS. Cal 32RF. 1) SN 317, 2nd Model with 3” oct bbl, German silver front sight, 2-pc walnut grips. The cylinder has a rolled scene of rabbits, dogs, house, and a man with horse. CONDITION: Good to very good. All matching. No original finish remains being a silver-gray patina overall. Grips are worn but fine with traces of original finish, 85% original cylinder scene. Strong dark bore. Good mechanics. 2) SN 581, 2nd model with 5” oct bbl, brass front sight and 2-pc walnut grips. This may be a transition piece as it has both 2nd and 3rd model features. It also has the grip screw installed from the right side rather than the left as in all of the other comparable revolvers, including the 3rd model. CONDITION: Very good. All matching including the grips. No original finish remains. Polished bright with some fine surface pitting. ALTERED SMITH & WESSON NO. 2 ARMY REVOLVER. Cal 32RF. SN 24848. Standard revolver with bbl cut to 3-1/2” and front sight relocated. Amputation was accomplished during the period of use. It has 2-pc rosewood grips that are numbered to the revolver. CONDITION: As noted. Otherwise good with an even artificially aged patina. Grips are very fine. ALLEN & WHEELOCK SIDE HAMMER RIM FIRE REVOLVER. Cal 32RF. SN 206. Rare brass frame 2nd model with 5” oct bbl, German silver front sight with 2-pc walnut grips. CONDITION: Good. All matching including grips. No original finish remains with the iron being a medium to dark patina with very fine surface pitting. INSCRIBED SMITH & WESSON MODEL 1-1/2 SINGLE ACTION REVOLVER. Cal 32S&W. SN 12073. Nickel finish with 3” key hole bbl and black hard rubber grips, accompanied by a period black leather flap holster. The backstrap is inscribed “Dick Liddell/Las Vegas, NM”. CONDITION: Good. Retains about 75% original nickel with the flaked areas a silver patina and a few spots of surface pitting. Grips are fine with moderate wear. Good mechanics. Strong bright bore. Holster has a flexed and crackled finish but is still supple and retains its original Cheyenne plug, the flap tab is missing. 4-50600 JR269 (400-700)

LOT OF TWO LEFACHAUX PINFIRE REVOLVERS. 1) Cal 9mm, SN 8299, French made revolver, unmarked with 4-5/8” oct bbl, tall front sight with deep relief gutta percha grips with 2 griffons and flowers on each side. The frame and cylinder are very nicely engraved in foliate patterns with punch-dot backgrounds, nickel plated. CONDITION: Fine. 50-60% nickel, broken main spring, extremely fine grips. 2) Cal 8mm, SN 768, Lefachaux marked with 3-1/2” oct bbl, missing the front sight, having full coverage etch engraving, the top flat has engraved “Lefachaux Brevete”. LOT OF 2 BLACK POWDER PISTOLS. 1) Allen and Thurber Bar Hammer Pepperbox. Cal 32. Belt size pepperbox with 3-1/2” 6-shot, fluted bbl cluster, attached nipple shield, engraved receiver with 2-pc bag shaped grips. CONDITION: Worn, silver brown patina, missing 3 screws from nipple shield, refinished grips, mechanics need attention. 2) French Flintlock Pistol. Cal about 62. 9” oct to rnd bbl with rib, 1-pc stock with replacement iron ramrod. Brass furniture with fancy thumb plate with filigree sideplate with a dolphin. Fancy trigger guard with floral finial and a demon face. The wood has raised carved teardrop side plates with raised carving around the trigger guard, nose pipe and bbl channel. There are small raised carvings between the trigger guard and nose pipe. Large brass butt cap. CONDITION: Fair, crusty brown bbl, dark brown patina on the brass, missing sliver from bbl channel and a large sliver around the lockplate. Trigger guard is sprung. RELIC MODEL 1816 FLINTLOCK PISTOL. Cal. 54. Has all the appearances of the Model 1816, no visible markings except a “US” proof at the breech end of the bbl. It has all iron furniture with a brass upward tilting pan, is about 15-1/2” overall length with a brass sight on the front of the split band. CONDITION: Severely pitted from exposure with the wood also eroded. Top jaw appears to be a replacement as are the two lock screws and the ramrod. Stock has a crack behind the sideplate and is missing a large chip of wood by the upper screw. Mechanics seem to function. 4-51041 JR528 (200-400)

ALLEN & WHEELOCK CENTER HAMMER NAVY REVOLVER. Cal 36 lip fire. SN 176. Usual configuration with bbl cut to 3-1/4”, homemade front sight with 2-pc walnut grips, probably was initially nickel plated. Accompanied by a late belt and holster rig with cutaway holster and old single layer belt with rectangular iron buckle. CONDITION: Fair, as noted. Retains traces of original nickel on the bbl and frame and about 50% nickel on the cylinder. Grips are sound, battered on the bottom, strong dark bore. Mechanics are fine. Holster was cut away to accommodate this old revolver a long time ago and has a home stitching job by the trigger guard. Loop is broken away from the skirt. Belt has a replaced buckle billet and has had the tongue billet relocated, is dry with a worn surface but is loose and flexible. 4-50652 JR293 (200-400)

LOT OF TWO CENTER HAMMER FLINTLOCK POCKET PISTOLS. 1) Ryan & Watson. Cal. 45. All brass, 3” tapered round bbl, box lock action with safety and uncheckered flat grip with iron trigger guard. The left side of the receiver is lightly engraved with the maker’s name and the right side is marked “London”. CONDITION: Very good. Moderate to heavy wear with a fine mellow patina on the brass. Stock has a hairline back of the top tang. Mechanics are fine, battered screws. 2) Cal. 36. All steel, with 1-1/2” cannon muzzle screw bbl box lock action with bag shaped grip. The left side marked “Dit Biron” and the right side “Lambert”. There are three proofs on the bottom. CONDITION: Light, cleaned metal color with scattered very fine surface rust. STEVENS TYPE 2 DIAMOND SINGLE SHOT PISTOL. Cal. 22. SN 41411. Tiny pistol with 5-7/8” oct to rnd bbl, globe front sight and original sheet metal rear sight. It has nickeled iron frame, spur trigger and 2-pc walnut grips. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Bbl, trigger & hammer retain 97-98% strong bright original blue. Receiver retains 98-99% bright original nickel with light handling & use marks. Grips with a few small nicks & scratches retain most of their original varnish. *HAWES COPY OF STEVENS LORD PISTOL. Cal. 22. SN 30411. Fine reproduction of Stevens Lord Single Shot Target Pistol with 8”oct to rnd bbl, globe front sight and adjustable rear sight. It has nickeled frame and synthetic checkered ivory grips. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl retains about 95% strong bright original blue/black and the frame most of its original nickel plating. MERWIN & BRAY (PLANT) FRONT LOADING REVOLVER. Cal 30 cup fire. SN 4615. Small brass frame revolver with 3-1/2” ribbed oct bbl, marked on the top “Merwin & Bray Fire Arms Co. N.Y.”. It has unfluted cylinder with patent dates and the usual ejector on the right side, with 2-pc rosewood grips. It has what appears to be a spurious presentation on the backstrap “WASH BONNER SANSABA TEXAS”. The engraving is either of recent application or possibly applied late in the period of use as some of the lettering passes through some light dents, scratches, and marks on the backstrap. Accompanied by a period dark brown leather flap holster. CONDITION: As noted. Bbl retains 10-15% thin original blue. No finish remains on the cylinder, it being a medium brown patina. Frame retains about 20% oxidized silver plating in the very sheltered areas. Grips are sound with traces of original finish. Strong dark bore. The backstrap has two holes for a tang sight, the top flat of the bbl has the original holes for the original rear sight. CONDITION: Fair to good. COLT MODEL 1878 DA REVOLVER. Cal 45 Colt. SN 11734. Blued finish with 7-1/2” bbl, attached ejector rod, with black hard rubber grips and a lanyard loop in the butt. CONDITION: Good as refinished, retaining about 90% of its old reblue which removed all the markings from the bbl and frame. RARE UMBRELLA SWORD. We’ve never seen another one. This is a most unusual Victorian protection device. The black umbrella is fitted with a removable sword having a heavy carved Victorian ivory handle, a gold plated filigree band with a button release fitted at the end of the ivory, the 13-1/2” tapered and angled double-sided sword blade with deep engraved design on over 50% of the blade. SIZE: Overall length of umbrella is 32”. Ivory handle is 5” long. CONDITION: Ivory has various old-age cracks; nickeled blade is in very nice condition. W.H. LAWSER & BROS CAPE GUN. Cal 10 ga / 45. English made combination gun with 32” Damascus bbls with the left being smooth bore and the right side rifled. The rib has fixed sights. It is mounted in a 1-pc stock with front action locks marked on both sides with the distributor’s name and “HARRISBURG”. It has iron fittings with German silver wedge escutcheons, a checkered straight wrist and tiny cheekpiece with 7 small mother of pearl inlays. The buttplate is brass and semi-crescent with a faceted tang. Most unusual, however, is the engraved patchbox on the right side made of 3 pieces of brass with a German silver lid. CONDITION: Fair to good. No original finish remains. Bbls and iron are a medium to heavy patina with traces of the original damascus pattern in the bbl. Stock has a couple of hairlines in back of the lockplates and a repaired toe. Otherwise shows heavy wear with numerous handing and use marks. Ramrod appears to be original. SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1842 PERCUSSION MUSKET. Cal about 62. Usual configuration with a 34” bbl, iron furniture with sling wires and 1-pc walnut stock. The left side of the stock is crudely carved with the name “DAVIS” and 4 other initials. The right side of the stock is carved with large initials “G.W.M.”. The lockplate is dated 1851. CONDITION: Good. Iron retains an even dark brown patina with heavy pitting around nipple area. Hammer nose is chipped. Appears to have been assembled from various military and commercial parts with a 33-1/4” rd bbl, a back action Lane & Read lock, mounted in a 3/4 length 1-pc stock, iron furniture with a brass tip ramrod, brass trigger guard and buttplate. The stock has military swivels and the trigger guard has provision for a sling swivel also. The top of the wrist is mounted with a brass plate which contains a clever adaptation of a musket rear sight attached to a windage screw. CONDITION: Good to very good. DUTCH PERCUSSION CAVALRY CARBINE. Cal. About 72. SN 47. Usual configuration with 14” rnd bbl, square base front sight, with fixed rear sight, integral with the top tang. It is mounted in a 3/4 length walnut stock with raised side panels and iron furniture. It has a single bbl band with trigger guard that is also a grip. The sideplate has an integral saddle ring and it has a smooth steel buttplate with a cheek piece. There is “WANZEL” stamped over the chamber area, a “W” proof below the tang and two stamped “G”’s on the left side flat. The lockplate has a cutout for a flintlock pan and there is a corresponding plug in the bbl. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. Traces of original bright finish remain with the balance a light patina. It has an 1873 marked, high arch breechblock and early 3-line lockplate markings. It is mounted in a 1-pc stock with 2 bands, slotted head rammer, and stacking swivel only on the upper band with no provision for a swivel on the trigger guard. The left side of the stock has an oval “ESA” cartouche. CONDITION: Good plus. Bbl retains a dark brown patina with light surface rust and a few light dings. Breechblock and lockplate are a mottled silver color with moderate rust pitting. Stock is sound with numerous small nicks, scratches, and dings and some battering near the tip. SELDON PERCUSSION TARGET RIFLE. Cal about 42. Medium weight target rifle with 28-1/8” oct bbl that is 1-3/16” at the muzzle. It has a tiny bead front sight and open rear sight with the tang sight missing. The left flat by the rear sight is marked “A.P. SELDON/WHITEHALL”. It is mounted in a walnut half stock with pewter nosecap, German silver, brass, and iron furniture. It has 2 iron guides on a rib under the bottom of the bbl, a decorative brass nosepipe, diamond shaped lock screw escutcheons and crescent buttplate. The wedge escutcheons are rectangular German silver and trigger guard/grip is decorative German silver as is the simple 2-pc patchbox. The back action lockplate and hammer are engraved with pheasants and trees. It has DBL set triggers. CONDITION: Good. Iron retains an even dark brown patina. Lower ramrod guide has been reattached. FINE GERMAN TARGET RIFLE. Cal. Unknown. A type of Zimmerschutzen rifle with 18-3/4” swamped medium weight oct bbl, fine original bbl sights, with a large front bore but no provision for a cartridge of that size at the rear. It is bolt action with the bolt handle missing. It is mounted in a 1-pc schutzen stock with iron furniture, a schutzen trigger guard with wide spaced double set triggers and elaborately carved and checkered buttstock. It has a swivel stud in the stock and a schutzen style buttplate. The top tang has a square base for a tang sight. All in all, a very unusual little rifle that is possibly missing some other bolt parts. CONDITION: Metal retains a very dark even patina overall. Stock is missing a sliver on the right side by the receiver and has another chip that is loose, otherwise is sound with a dark dirty patina. EATON UNDERHAMMER PERCUSSION FOWLER. Cal about 14 bore. Unusual long bbl underhammer by “.10 EATON / CONCORD NH / PATENT” and so marked on the small flat over the chamber area. It has a tiny German silver blade front sight and later type fixed rear sight on the 42” rnd bbl. There are 2 iron guides and a long pipe affixed to the bottom of the bbl. The buttstock has a long narrow wrist with perch belly, a small cheek piece and brass buttplate with oval German silver inlays on each side of the wrist and a geometric shape inlay on the cheek piece. CONDITION: The bbl and iron parts retain a medium silver brown patina with vise marks on each side of the bbl. ALTERED EUROPEAN PERCUSSION MUSKET WITH RAWHIDE SCABBARD. Cal about 65. Musket is an old altered trade musket with the bbl reduced to 19-1/4”. It has a bottom rib and a single iron band and is 34-1/4” overall. On the left flat about 4-1/2” from the back end is stamped in barely legible letters, “USID”. It is presumed that this stands for US Interior Department which was the government agency responsible for Indian affairs. It has a long banana shaped lock with a brass inlay near the front and the butt is stamped in large letters “1E1852”. This appears to be an Indian “blanket rifle”. It is accompanied by a rawhide scabbard 27-1/2” long with buckstitch lacing of more recent manufacture. CONDITION: The musket is poor with the iron having a dark crusty patina with heavy pitting and some burn around the nipple. Stock has several cracks on the left side and losses behind the lock and the toe has an old repair. Mechanics are poor. Scabbard is extremely fine. 4-50659 JR115 (500-1,000)

BARNETT PERCUSSION CALVARY MUSKETOON. Cal about 60. Small English musketoon with 21” rnd bbl, square base front sight, missing the rear sight. It has British proofs over the chamber and lockplate marked “Barnett/London” with a crown over “Tower” back of the hammer. It is missing the captive rammer. CONDITION: Fair. No original finish remains being a gray brown patina overall. Heavily battered and rusted about 6” above the bbl. Nipple is missing and the hammer nose is chipped. Stock has cracks around the lockplate and is missing a chip. There are numerous chips missing from the ramrod channel and the front band is missing. ALTERED 1864 DATED SPRINGFIELD RIFLE/MUSKET. Cal. 58. Bbl is reduced to 30” with the square base front sight/bayonet lug relocated about 1-1/4” from the muzzle. It has 2-leaf musket rear sight, 2- bands with tulip head ramrod commensurately reduced in length. The bbl & lockplate are both dated “1864”. The top of the comb has a rack #37. The left side of the butt is crudely carved “Atlanta / Sep 4 64”. This appears to be one of the field altered pieces. CONDITION: Good to very good. Metal cleaned to bright with scattered light to moderate pitting on the bbl. Wood is sound and retains most of an old sanded refinish. LOT OF TWO BLACK POWDER ARMS. 1) Cal. 50. Unmarked cut down Kentucky rifle, originally must have been a beautiful rifle, but now with a 23-1/4” oct bbl with brass inlay in the top flat. It has a small filigree side plate and a 4-pc plain filigree patch box. It has a silver thumb plate with a heart and fleur-de-lis on each side of the wrist. SCARCE MASSACHUSETTS MADE PERCUSSION PUNT GUN. Cal. about 10 bore. Scarce old fowling piece with 53” unmarked round bbl, 68-1/2” overall length, with brass furniture, built on a half stock, probably walnut, with raised side panels and two wedges through the forestock. It has Brown Bess style trigger guard with pineapple finial and a stepped tang buttplate. The bottom of the bbl has an iron rail with two iron guides containing a homemade replacement rammer. The lock is lightly engraved and marked “C.R. Sargent / Newburyport”. CONDITION: Bbl is a dark brown patina with heavy pitting around the nipple area and on top of the lockplate. Trigger guard has a crack through a screw hole so a third screw was installed. Stock has repaired crack the length of the forestock, otherwise is sound and retains most of an old refinish. It is in a 1-pc stock with grasping grooves and a bbl band with 1901 cartouche. It has a late hand guard with hump above the rear sight with a smooth steel buttplate with trap. LOT OF SEVEN PAPER ITEMS RELATING TO THE SHARPS RIFLE CO. 1) Three $15 Bearer bonds No. 1, 2, and 3 that have been clipped and paid. – Very fine. 2) Two postcards addressed to the Sharps Rifle Co. in Bridgeport, both with 1 cent postage. One dated October 4, 77, the other November 11, 77. One deals with a financial meeting in New York. The other from a customer complaining that he did not receive a disk. – Both are slightly yellowed but have sharp edges and corners with completely legible writing. 3) Sharps Rifle Co. check, with large crossed rifles, No. 704 dated September 6, 1875 payable to C.L. Stone & Sons in the amount of $82.59. – Very fine. Everything is clear and legible. 4) Hand written letter to Sharps dated July 26, 1880 from a Mr. John Borden of Boston, Mass., wherein he states that he has a Sharps rifle for sale. Both were crack shots and performed in some cases phenomenal feats of marksmanship and were widely advertised. This period pin depicts the husband and wife combination, each wearing wide-brimmed hats on a pale yellow background. LOT OF 7 CANVAS & LEATHER CARTRIDGE BELTS. Three wide Mills canvas belts, two for large rifle cartridges and one for 12 ga. shot shells. All three have large dog’s head Mills buckles. The two rifle belts have early buckles with full addresses and the shotgun belt buckle with only the maker’s name and patent number. One rifle belt is near new with about 50% gold wash. The other rifle belt is very worn and stained and retains about 70% gold wash. The shot shell belt is moderately worn with a torn loop and the buckle retains 30-40% gold wash. The fourth belt is a Mills prairie type belt for rifle or handgun cartridges with a medium sized dog’s head buckle with complete address and no patent number. The patent number is on the adjustment tab. This belt is extremely fine showing little wear with the buckle retaining about 50% gold wash. The fifth belt is a blue militia belt for large rifle cartridges with a square “US” buckle with full address & patent number, in fine condition with dark buckle. The sixth belt is a shot shell belt without buckle, only the adjusting tabs. It is soiled with moderate wear. The seventh belt is a size 34 leather belt with shoulder harnesses and brass cartridge clips, patented “1884”. MEDIUM SIZED COWHIDE COVERED TRUNK. Red steer hide covered trunk with the hair on, strap iron bound, 25-1/2” long x 16-3/4” wide x 15-1/4” high. It has heart shaped iron handles on the end, one missing. It has a diamond shaped brass tack decoration in the lid and a simple iron lock on the front covered with a flap of leather. It originally had leather hinges and the inside is painted with old blue paint. CONDITION: Fair. Worn with some water damage to the back, missing about 1/3 of the hair from the lid. VERY LARGE HOMEMADE KNIFE. Large decorative knife with curved clip point Bowie shaped blade, about 17” x 2”, with a modest curve, flat ground, probably made from an old saw blade. It has an iron hand guard with a massive crown stag handle. There is a polished area on the bottom of the handle that has very old hand scratched letters “Hoyt / 1 VA Regt”. It has an iron ferrule at the hand guard. CONDITION: Blade & handle show decent age with pitting on the blade and a wonderful dark patina on the handle. LOT OF 7 SPRINGFIELD ANGULAR SOCKET BAYONETS. Five bayonets are 1861 pattern, all marked U.S. without scabbards. One is bright and clean with light spotting. Two have dark patina. One is missing the lock ring. Two others have their scabbards with frogs and U.S. brass buttons. Both have light patina with scattered fine rust, one has an “S” and an “A” inspector mark. One frog has inspector proofs and Watervliet Arsenal. One bayonet is for the Trapdoor Springfield with blue blade and blued metal scabbard with frog and brass hook hanger. Fine pitting on the blade, heavier on the socket, fine scabbard with moderate pitting. The last item is an 1861 sized fencing bayonet with 16” leather covered blade that has a large knob on the tip. The leather is marked “ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL 1906” with 2 sets of inspector initials. The leather is dry with worn edges and some loose stitching. MODEL 1904 HOSPITAL CORPS KNIFE. SN 18449. Fine, large bolo knife with 12” round tip blade that swells to 2-1/2” at the widest point, an “S” shaped brass hand guard with finger grip wood handle. It is marked on the left side “SA” with flaming bomb and “1911” and on the other “US” with the serial number. It is accompanied by its original brown leather Rock Island sheath, also dated “1911”, with bronze throat and steel Krag style belt loop. CONDITION: Very fine. Accompanied by a S & W letter identifying this as a persentation revolver engrave with Mr. Pugsley’s name and indicating shipment on Dec. 9, 1947 to Mr. Edwin Pugsley, Winchester Arms Co, New Haven, CT. The revolver was a gift from Mr. C. R. Hellstrom, President of Smith & Wesson. “Mr. Pugsley was Wincheste r executive, who was in charge of the Manufacturing Engineering Dept”. Very unusual piece, 5-screw frame with 3-1/2” bbl, ramp front sight, adjustable rear sight, target trigger & hammer with diamond checkered medallion magna grips. Accompanied by a second bbl that is 8-3/8” long that is numbered to the revolver. Also accompanies is a Smith & Wesson letter identifying this revolver and indicating that it was shipped March 2, 1954 to Abercrombie & Fitch Co., New York City, NY with a 3-1/2” bbl. Mr. Jinks states that the extra bbl would have been an addition by the service department after the revolver was shipped. He further states that it is very unusual to have both bbls still together. Also included is a reproduced article titled “The Evolution of the .357 Magnum” by Jess Lucio, Jr. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine. All matching including both bbls and grips. LOT OF 2 CIVIL WAR BELTS AND A PRAIRIE BELT. 1) Mills type canvas belt with 50 large diameter rifle cartridge loops, brass fittings, and a large “US” brass buckle. The belt is yellowed but sound and the buckle and brass fittings have a nice patina. 2) Plain black belt with sword hanger removed, rectangular brass “US” buckle. Also included is a black “US” marked McKeever box for large diameter cartridges. The belt is supple and clean, the box is dry with crackled edges and verdigris around the brass. The brass buckle tab is missing from the belt. 3) Dark brown belt with hook adjustment and rectangular brass “US” buckle with original tab attached. The tab end of the belt has 2 sets of inspector initials and the buckle end of the belt has a large “50” stamped on it. Also accompanied by a brown “US” McKeever box for large cartridges. Marked on the back “ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL”. Additionally accompanied by a socket bayonet for trapdoor rifles with bright blade and blued socket with fine blued metal scabbard with brown frog marked “A.R. SMITH”. Mr. Jinks further states that the 27-1 revolvers are a rare variation to find and that they can be identified by the “special “L” stamp on the cylinder”. He states that the “L” marking was used at the time of the change from right hand to left hand thread extractor rods while the factory was still assembling both types. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Has been fired but retains virtually all its original bright factory finish with a faint cylinder line. Extremely fine grips, crisp mechanics and bright shiny bore. *SMITH & WESSON MODEL 58 DA REVOLVER. Cal. 41 Mag. SN S259246. Blued finish, 4” bbl, 3-screw frame, red ramp front sight & adjustable rear sight, target trigger & hammer, checkered medallion magnum grips. This appears to be a mis-marked Model 57, as it has all the attributes of that model rather than the Model 58. Accompanied by a Smith & Wesson letter identifying this revolver and indicating it was shipped on Dec. 3, 1965 to F. Morton Pitt & Co., San Gabriel, CA. The letter goes on to state that there is no explanation for the target sights as the invoice clearly lists it as a Model 58. Also accompanied by a Smith & Wesson mahogany box with tools. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. Retains 94-96% original factory finish, thin on the bbl with muzzle & edge wear and the cylinder has turned plum colored. Grips appear to be recent replacements and retain most of their original finish. Fine mechanics, bright shiny bore, good relined box. 4-51886 JR540 (250-500)
