PAIR OF SANDWICH GLASS WHALE OIL LAMPS & SHADES. A spectacular matched pair of Sandwich glass lamps, burners and shades. Lamps have a blown font; frosted throughout with grape and vine decoration. Collars are pewter and original to the lamp. Base is a pressed five step base (see Barlow & Kaiser, pg 71; 2064 for similar example). The whale oil burners are designed to hold the shade and is complete with its original thumbscrew. The shades, matching the lamps in pattern and form are frosted throughout with a grape and vine decoration. An exceptionally desirable, rare and complete pair of Sandwich glass lamps. SIZE: 15-3/4″ t incl. shade x 4-1/4″ w. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of Dorothy-Lee Jones. CONDITION: Lamps are in very good to excellent condition with minor chips and flakes to the edges of the pressed base. 2002

EIGHT BLOWN SALTS. 1) Blown deep amber white loop decorated footed salt; possibly New Jersey in origin. 2) Greenish-amber free-blown footed salt with everted rim. Center of salt is plugged with what appears to be plaster of paris, due to a mfg defect. 3) Cobalt blue quilted salt with a footed base. Foot is separately applied. 4) Bonnet type salt with 21 ribs and is light green in color. 5-8) Bonnet type salts in various quilted patterns with round and lobed feet. FIVE SANDWICH GLASS SUGAR BOWLS. 1) Pressed acanthus leaf and shield sugar on foot in light blue opalescent. Sugar is undamaged, however there is no lid present. 2) Pressed Gothic arch sugar in clear. Sugar is undamaged, lid has minor chipping to its edge. 3) Pressed Gothic arch sugar in canary. Sugar is undamaged, lid has a 1/2″ spall and other minor flakes around its rim. 4) Pressed Gothic arch sugar in opaque starch blue. Sugar is undamaged, however the lid has had polishing throughout its rim. 5) Pressed Gothic arch sugar in amethyst. Sugar is badly cracked, lid is heavily chipped and flaked around the rim. BENNINGTON TYPE LAMP. Very rare Bennington type lamp is attributed to Boston Earthen Works. Lamp has a brown Bennington type foot with stepped brass stem leading to the clear glass mold blown font with pressed vertical loop pattern. Lamp is finished with a clear glass shade with hand etched grape design. SIZE: 17-1/4″ t. CONDITION: Very good to excellent with some minor chips to the glaze on corners of foot. 5-63302 (1,200-1,500)

FOUR BLUE LACY GLASS SALTS. 1) Neal DI-1 in sapphire. Neal does not list this salt in sapphire. Exceptional condition with minor flakes to the paw feet at one corner. 2) Neal DI-9 in cobalt blue; rated by Neal as very rare. 3) Neal MV-1B in cobalt blue; rated by Neal as very rare. There is a large chip off one foot. 4) Neal SD-16 in deep cobalt blue; rated by Neal as rare. SIZE: Ranges from 3″ to 3-3/4″ w. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of Dorothy-Lee Jones. FOUR SUGAR BOWLS. 1) 5-1/4″ blown pattern molded clear sugar with lid. Body of sugar and lid have a molded diamond design throughout. Bowl has a small foot applied to the base, lid has an applied finial. 2) 4″ cobalt blue free-blown Bristol-type open sugar bowl. Separately blown folded type foot attached to bowl. 3) 4-1/2″ cobalt blue English or American free-blown covered sugar. Separately blown folded type foot attached to bowl. Lid is free-blown and hand tooled with separately applied finial. 4) 4″ ruby flashed blown and molded lidded sugar; probably of Bohemian origin. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of Dorothy-Lee Jones. FIVE CLEAR LACY GLASS OPEN SALTS. Includes five eagle pattern lacy salts by the Boston & Sandwich Glass Company. 1) Neal EE1. Front and back with a splayed eagle, each side having a willow tree. CONDITION: Very good showing minor flakes around rim. 2) Neal EE3. Showing a perched eagle on each corner and an American shield on the front and back. CONDITION: Very good with minor flakes on the rim and the feet. 3) Neal EE6. With a splayed eagle in the stippled base. CONDITION: Good with noticeable chipping around rim. 4 & 5) Each are Neal EE7. Splayed American eagle on front and back. Neal rates these two as rare. CONDITION: Each are very good to excellent with only the most minor of flaking to feet. CUP PLATE BASE LAMP. Lamp has a clear blown conical font attached to a pressed cup plate base. There is a small amount of discoloration between the foot and the lamp. It is our opinion that the impurities were caused by use and the mfg process. There are no repairs to the lamp. SIZE: 6″ t. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of Dorothy-Lee Jones. PAIR OF LACE MAKER TYPE WHALE OIL LAMPS. This pair of lamps are blown and hand cut. The bases show a polished pontil, stems are facet cut where as bulbous tops are cut with circles around circumference. They are of American or European origin. Both lamps carry Dorothy-Lee Jones Collection stickers on the underside. SIZE: 11-1/2″ t x 5″ w at base. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of Dorothy-Lee Jones. TWO LACY GLASS OPEN SALTS. Lot consists of two Neal MV-1 open salts. 1) Boston & Sandwich Glass example in very dark amber. 2) Mt. Vernon or Saratoga Glass example in black olive green. TEN OPALESCENT & WHITE CUP PLATES. 1) Lee #89 plate. Opalescent with baskets of long pendant leaves around the rim. Plate has a rope border. 2)Lee #89 plate in white opaque having same decoration as first. The rope border is approx. one quarter missing because of underfill, not damage. 3) Neal #388 in opaque white. 4) Neal #332 in opal. Rated as unique by Neal. 5-6) Each Neal #465J having thirteen hearts on the border and thirty-eight even scallops in opal. Rated by Neal as scarce. 7-8) Each are Neal 465L having a thirteen hearts on the border and fifty-three even scallops in opal; rated by Neal as scarce. 9-10) Two small opalescent bowls in the Roman Rosette pattern. SIZE: 3-3/4″ dia., 3-5/8″ dia and 3-1/4″ dia, 3-5/16″ dia, 3-1/2″, 4″ dia. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of Dorothy-Lee Jones. THREE SANDWICH GLASS BEARS. Lot consists of three clambroth colored Sandwich glass bears. Largest example embossed on base “Eugene Bize & Fricke Successors to J. Hauel & Co.”, second is embossed “FB Strouse N.Y.” and third is embossed “X. Bazin Philada”. SIZE: Tallest 4-1/2″. FIVE PIECES OF PRESSED/MOLDED GLASS. 1) Pressed amethyst decanter. Decanter is the eight panel style with applied ring to lip. 2) Amethyst pressed cosmetic jar with pewter lid. Base is pressed with a ground lip. Pewter lid has and engine turned decoration on top. 3) Pressed emerald green footed spill vase in a thumbprint and oval pattern. 4) Pressed glass hexagonal form candlestick in deep forest green. Candlestick is pressed in two pieces and joined with a wafer. Although this stick has many early features and we believe it is probably period, we cannot guarantee its age. 5) Pressed glass footed napi on blown base. Bowl is pressed and attached to a blown and pontiled base. SIZE: Tallest is 10-3/4″. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of Dorothy-Lee Jones. CONDITION: Overall very good to excellent. SEVEN PIECES OF EARLY GLASS. 1) Bird water bottle in cobalt blue with a string rim and double ball top and a separately attached spout to fit between the bars of a bird cage. 2) Bird water bottle in clear and cobalt blue. Body is blown into a dip mold creating eight ridges, a 1-1/4″ dia cobalt blue glass ball is attached to the top. The separately attached spout is clear with a cobalt blue rim around the top. 3-4) Pair of early 19th Century European milk glass and polychrome enamel decorated salt and pepper shakers. Bottles are blown with a polished pontil. The screw-on glass heads have six holes each for dispensing their contents. One has an enamel medallion with a “S” presumably for salt; the other has an enamel medallion with a “P” for pepper. Probably once part of a larger set. 5) Single case bottle of triangular form with cut flower decoration on each face. Free-blown with a ground pontil, stopper missing. 6) Late 18th to early 19th Century blown barrel form tankard with a heavy rough pontil. Body of tankard is decorated with applied threading that is mostly intact. Separately applied strap handle is undamaged. 7) Early 19th Century Continental whimsy/tankard. A bulbous body tankard with applied foot and applied handle. Entire item is free-blown and hand tooled. A floral and rigaree type decoration is separately applied to the interior base. SIZE: Tallest is 8-1/4″. Widest is 5-1/2″ at handle. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of Dorothy-Lee Jones. CONDITION: All items are very good to excellent with no major flaws. 5-63113 (600-800)

EIGHT COLORED LACY GLASS BOWLS & PLATES, MOSTLY BY BOSTON & SANDWICH GLASS CO. 1-2) Roman Rosette pattern dishes; one in amethyst and one in amber. 3) Prince Feather variant in light cobalt blue. 4) Daisy with peacock eye dish in light blue. 5-6) Pressed crossed swords nappis; one in cobalt and one in starch blue. 7) An unidentified pattern in deep amethyst with Gothic arches and circles on base with what appears to be a daisy and button pattern in the center. SIZE: 5-1/2″ dia, 5-1/4″ dia, 5″ dia, 6-1/2″ dia, 4-7/8″ dia, 4-1/2″ dia, 6″ dia and 4-1/4″ dia respectively. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of Dorothy-Lee Jones. THREE EARLY LACY PRESSED GLASS OPALESCENT PLATES. 1) Boston & Sandwich pressed shield and pine tree nappi in fiery opalescent with a bluish tint. Pattern on reverse includes alternating tree and shield design with pinwheel and shield design on inside of rope foot. 2) Opalescent pressed plate, probably by Boston & Sandwich with a basket of flowers and leaf design around the rim. Similar to cup plate #89 in Lee’s book on American Cup Plates. Plate has nearly a complete rope border with areas of slight underfill. 3) Lacy period opalescent dish with a leafed border on the face; reverse base includes crosshatched hearts and a central six-petal flower. SIX PRESSED GLASS DISHES AND NAPPI. 1) Emerald green flint glass 5-3/4″ plate with a Gothic arch design around the rim and a sixteen square pattern on the base; every other square is decorated with a four petaled flower. 2) Light green flint glass 5-3/4″ plate with a Gothic arch design around the outside and a sixteen square pattern on the base; every other square has a stippled pattern to it. 3) Cobalt blue flint glass 5-3/4″ plate with fourteen circles around the rim of the plate and a central star surrounded by stippled half ovals in the base. 4) Emerald green flint glass 6-1/4″ plate with a stylized bell flower type design around the rim and a pinwheel in the very center of the dish. 5) Cobalt blue flint glass 9″ plate with a stylized foliate design around the edge and a similar design in the center of the plate. 6) Cobalt blue flint glass 5″ nappi on footed base. Nappie has alternate stippled diamond and plain sections to the bowl. Base of foot has eight lobes. Bowl is connected to base with a wafer. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of Dorothy-Lee Jones. CONDITION: Most very good to excellent condition. As with all early pressed flint, small flakes and chips are endemic to the form. The Nappie has severe chipping to the scallops. #3 has a 1″ crack from the rim of one scallop. 5-63109 (500-800)

Included is a 6-1/2″ shade ring with prisms. 2) 13-1/2″ blown and pressed glass clear lamp. Font is cut panel and circle decorated as is a large central knop. Base is pressed in the four step form with a rose bottom. Collar appears to be replaced. MID-19TH CENTURY FLUID LAMP. Lamp has a pressed and cut base. Base of the lamp is cut throughout its entirety except for the bottom 1-1/4″ of the base which retains its pressed form. Attached to the base is a brass shaft and tank assembly. Shaft is turned brass, tank assembly has a pierced base to accept prisms around its circumference. Tank is missing its cap. Attached to the base of the tank assembly is a small 3/4″ x 1/2″ plaque that reads “N.E. Glass Co Boston”. Lamp is obviously incomplete but quite rare and restorable. SIZE: 12″ t x 3-1/2″ at base. THREE WHALE OIL LAMPS. 1) Blown font, frosted throughout with a cut grape and vine design. Collar has been replaced. Base is a three step pressed base. 2) Blown font and shaft, void of decoration. Collar is pewter and appears to be original to the lamp. There is a burner included with the lamp that is slightly too big. Base of the lamp is pressed in a square form. 3) Blown and pressed whale oil lamp in white milk glass. Font is blown in two sections being put together with various wafers. Collar is a much later replacement. Pressed base is of lion head and basket of flowers form. SIZE: 9-1/4″ t x 4″ w, 12-1/4″ t incl burner x 4″ w and 12-1/4″ t x 3-1/4″ w at base respectively. CUP PLATE MOLD & CERAMIC BOWL. Mold is a two-part plaster of paris mold made from a Henry Clay cup plate. Molds like this were used to press ceramic copies of various cup plates and toddy plates. Small ceramic bowl was made from a mold similar to before mentioned, but in the peacock eye pattern. Body appears to be redware. SIZE: Bowl is 4-7/8″.
