ANTIQUE WINCHESTER MODEL 1894 SADDLE RING CARBINE WITH MARBLE FRONT SIGHT AND LYMAN REAR SIGHT.

SN 134594. Cal. 38-55. 20″ rnd bbl, full magazine, full blue finish, straight grain American walnut stocks with steel carbine buttplate. Bbl shows 2-line Winchester address rolled in front of rear sight with Cal. mark to the rear of sight. Front sight is marked “MARBLE” and has a brass bead. Rear sight is standard ladder type. Receiver has saddle ring attached. SN is stamped on the lower forward part of receiver. Tang sight was not removed. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl and magazine tube are a smooth grey/brown patina overall with a few light dents and some blue visible in protected areas. Markings are sharp. Sights are very good. Bore is frosty with visible rifling. Receiver retains 20-30% blue overall that is bright in protected areas with the balance blending to a grey/brown patina. Hammer and lever are both a silver/grey patina with some traces of case color. Markings are sharp. Rear sight is very good. Stocks are very good, full size and show numerous handling marks and dents overall commensurate with the age of the carbine. Bbl bands are both a silver/grey patina with traces of blue. SN 206658. Cal. 32 W.S. 26″ oct bbl, full magazine, full blue finish, straight grain American walnut stocks with crescent buttplate. Bbl shows 2-line Winchester address rolled in front of rear sight with Cal. mark to rear of sight. Left rear flat of bbl is marked “NICKEL STEEL BARREL / ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER”. Upper tang is marked “MODEL 1894 / WINCHESTER / PAT. AUG. 21, 1884”. SN is stamped on lower forward part of receiver. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl and magazine tube show 50-60% blue finish that has dulled with high point wear, a few scratches and some slight erosion at the muzzle. Markings are sharp, sights very good, bore is dark with visible rifling. Receiver retains 10% blue, mostly on left side with balance turning a silver/grey patina. Hammer and lever are also a grey/brown patina. Markings are sharp. Wood is good, slightly undersized and shows and old refinish and a few handling marks. CONDITION: Fine as professionally restored. Bbl and magazine tube show 95% blue finish. Bbl markings are sharp, sights very good, bore is bright with strong rifling. Bbl and magazine retain 95% blue finish with only slight muzzle wear and a few miniscule scratches. Markings are sharp. Sights are very good. Bore is slightly frosty with strong rifling. Bbl and magazine tube retain 90% of the blue finish that is somewhat dull with slight muzzle wear. Sights are very good. Bore is bright with strong rifling. SN 409226. Cal. 30-06. 24″ bbl. Takedown. Full blue finish, straight grain American walnut stocks with crescent buttplate. Bbl shows “NICKEL STEEL BARREL / ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER” in front of Cal. designation on the left rear side. Front sight is a Lyman bead. Rear sight mortise has been plugged. “WP” proof appears at breech of bbl and top ring of receiver. Upper tang is marked “MODEL 95 / WINCHESTER / TRADEMARK REG. U.S. PAT. OFF. & FGN.”. SN appears on lower tang under lever. Winchester address and patent mark is rolled on left side of receiver under receiver sight. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Bbl retains 98% bright blue finish with only a few slight scratches, especially toward the muzzle and a slight stain at the breech. Front sight is very good. Markings are sharp and clear. Bore is bright with strong rifling. Receiver also retains 90% bright blue finish with some flaking on right side and front top ring. There are a few stains on the takedown ring. Magazine and lever also show 90% blue finish with some abrasions from operation. Lyman receiver sight also retains 80% blue. Bolt shows 95% blue. Hammer shows 90% blue with most of the wear on front face. Stocks are very fine, full sized and retain nearly all of their orig varnish finish with only miniscule handling marks overall. Buttplate shows 80% blue finish that is drifting to a plum/brown with some wear in the middle. Ebony schnabel insert is fine. Mechanics are crisp. SN 400638. Cal. .30-40 Krag. 22″ rnd bbl, blue finish, saddle ring attached, straight grained American walnut stocks, with hand guard and carbine butt. CONDITION: Fine as refinished. Bbl shows 50% blue that is turning a pleasing plum/brown. Sights are very good. Bbl band shows nearly all the blue finish. Bore is bright with strong rifling. Receiver retains 90% blue finish, as does the hammer and lever. Receiver marking is sharp and clear. Tang marking is sharp and clear. Stocks are very good, full sized, and show only small handling marks overall. CONDITION: Very good to fine. Bbl retains 95% of the blue finish. Sights very good. Bbl markings are sharp. Bore is bright with sharp rifling. Receiver retains 80-85% blue finish with some wear at the top sides. Bolt shows 90% blue. Hammer and lever show considerable blue finish with some erosion on the forward part of the lever. Tang markings are clear and sharp. Stocks are very good, full size, with most of the orig varnish remaining. Stocks have minuscule handling marks overall. SN 345. Cal. 348 WCF. 24″ rnd bbl, half-magazine, full blue finish with straight grain pistol grip American walnut stocks. Checkered steel shotgun buttplate. Bbl shows Winchester model, logo and Cal. mark rolled on the left rear side. Right rear side is rolled with Winchester address. This is correct for early guns. Bbl has a hooded ramp front sight, rear sight mortise is plugged. There is a “WP” proof at the breech and on receiver ring. Receiver is of the early Type with a tang that measures 3-7/8″ with no provision for tang sights. Stock also has a shorter comb which is correct. Rifle has a bolt peep sight mounted. SN is stamped on bottom front of receiver. Forend cap has provision for sling swivel. PROVENANCE: The Forrest G. Rhodes collection. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl retains 90% somewhat thinning blue with a few minor scratch marks toward the muzzle. Magazine also retains most of its blue. Magazine cap is a silver/grey patina. All markings are sharp. Bore is frosty with visible rifling. Receiver retains 90% plus bright blue finish with some high point wear and a few scratch marks overall. Bolt retains nearly all of the blue finish as does the bolt peep sight. Hammer and lever are a smooth blue/grey patina overall with considerable blue on the rear of the hammer. SN is sharp. Stocks are very good, full sized and retain nearly all of their orig varnish finish that has scuff marks on high points with some bruising and denting overall which is commensurate with age of the rifle. *SCARCE WINCHESTER MODEL 55 TAKEDOWN LEVER ACTION RIFLE.

SN 1020138. Cal 30 WCF (30-30). Standard grade rifle with 24-1/4″ tapered light weight rnd bbl, 1/2 magazine, front sight with Lyman gold bead insert and flat top rear sight. Mounted with uncheckered straight grain American walnut with straight stock that has fluted comb and serrated steel shotgun buttplate. The Model 55 was a continuation of the Model ’94 which was discontinued in 1924. There were approximately 20,500 Models 55 produced 1924-1935. The earliest rifles had their own serial range but after about 1926 or early 1927 serial numbers for the Model 55 was merged with the Model ’94. This rifle was produced in 1927 at a time when subsistence hunting was a way of life throughout the United States. The Model 55 was extremely popular in the north woods and northeast United States. They usually saw very hard service and are rarely found today with high orig finish. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. Bbl retains 93-95% strong orig blue with some minor thin spots about mid-point. Receiver retains about 75% bright orig blue with the loss areas flaked, not worn to a medium patina. Takedown bbl extension is a blue/brown patina. Hammer retains most of its orig blue and the lever about 50% blue, mostly on the sides. Wood is sound with a few light nicks & scratches and retains most of a fine factory-style restored finish on the buttstock. *VERY ATTRACTIVE MASTERFULLY ENGRAVED UBERTI MODEL 1866 RIFLE, AMERICAN ENGRAVERS TRIBUTE TO GUSTAVE YOUNG.

SN GY040. Cal. 44-40. 24″ oct bbl, full magazine. Bbl and magazine are blue. Gunmetal receiver buttplate and forend cap are gold washed. Rifle is engraved in the Ulrich motif with a deep relief vignette of Liberty on one side and Grecian woman on the other side. There are also two vignettes on the sideplate. Left side shows man shooting rifle at Indians, right side shows a horseman. Engraving is nearly full coverage and as stated masterfully executed. An eagle head and dog head have been integrated into the design. These figures are a motif used by Gustave Young. Bbl is engraved at the breech. There is a platinum band inlay at the breech and muzzle. Bbl is marked “AM ENGRAVER’S TRIBUTE TO GUSTAVE YOUNG”. Cal. mark is rolled in front of rear sight. Upper tang is marked “MODEL 1866”. SN is stamped on lower tang behind lever latch. Gunmetal buttplate and forend cap also have scroll and border decoration. PROVENANCE: The collection of Robert Roughton. CONDITION: Extremely fine, near new with only the slightest indication of handling. Bbl and magazine retain nearly all of the blue finish. Gun metal parts retain nearly all of the gold wash. VERY RARE 50 ROUND BOX OF NEW HAVEN ARMS CO. 44 CALIBER RIMFIRE AMMUNITION FOR HENRY RIFLES.

Very rare New Haven Arms 50 rnd box of 44 Rimfire Henry cartridges. Cartridges have flat-nosed bullets and are without handstamp. Box has full green & black label with straight line border and no end label call-out. According to One Hundred Years of Winchester Cartridge Boxes 1856-1956, Giles & Shuey, boxes with this label were produced in the period 1862-1863 at the height of the Civil War. Few survive today in any condition, especially with orig ammunition. Boxes with this label complete with ammunition are second in rarity only to the extremely rare black label boxes. CONDITION: Fair. Lid has taped broken corners with more tape on one side of the bottom for no apparent reason. The bottom is solid and intact. Label is heavily soiled with some water staining and wear, however, all of the lettering is completely legible. Box overall is mostly a dark brown patina showing wear on the edges and corners. EXTREMELY RARE FULL BOX OF NEW HAVEN ARMS “MILITARY” 44 RIMFIRE HENRY CARTRIDGES.

This box was produced during the Civil War Era, 1863-1865, and very few survive intact today with orig ammunition. This box is the type referred to as a “military” box with “wide 4s”. Box is 2-pc style made from kraft colored cardboard with medium green label and black printing with fancy border. This box is also known as the 2nd variation military box. PROVENANCE: Ex-Ray T. Giles Collection. CONDITION: Very fine. Label is complete showing light wear in a few areas where it apparently was in a lower level in the orig case and rubbed against the bottom of the box above. Box is completely sound with light water staining around the bottom and light soil. An extremely rare and hard to find orig box. Box is sealed in plastic so cartridges were not examined. FOUR BOXES OF COLLECTOR AMMUNITION, WINCHESTER 44 HENRY FLAT, 50 CALIBER GALLAGERS CARBINE CARTRIDGES, AND BOX OF 1873 DATED COLT 45 AMMUNITION.

Winchester green label square corner 44 flat rim fire cartridges. Box appears full, however has been dropped and is broken in several locations and has subsequently been taped shut. One box Frankford Arsenal cartridges for Colt’s Revolver Cal. 45, dated December 1873. These are the early internally primed central fire cartridges, the first of the first and unbelievably rare. Two boxes containing ten Gallager’s Breech Loading Carbine ammunition with caps, marked Poultney’s Metallic Cartridges, patented December 15, 1873. CONDITION: Green label 44 rim fire box has a very good label, both top and sides. However box has, as previously has been mentioned, been dropped and broken and repaired with clear cellophane-type tape. Box appears to be full of all 50 cartridges, some of which are visible but has not been opened to verify quantity. Frankford Arsenal Colt Revolver cartridges appear to contain all 12 cartridges, but box has been dropped at some previous point and damaged, and then later repaired with clear cellophane-type tape. Cartridges are visible and label is very strong. Gallager cartridges box one is exceptionally fine, nicely sealed, but does have the application of clear cellophane-type tape on one end and appears full and un-molested. Box two of Gallager cartridges has suffered being opened, label slightly tattered, and repaired again with white cellophane-type tape, but appears to be full. WINCHESTER MODEL 1894 WOODEN SHIPPING CRATE.

43-5/8″ X 16″ X 12″ crate for 10 Model 1894 lever action rifles with 26″ bbls. Left end marked with “4965” over partially visible label with red & blue markings on white background. Mid portion of label giving rifle specifications is largely missing. Right end has shipping label listing the SN’s of all 10 rifles including 1390559, some SN’s are only partially legible. Front & back of box is marked “WINCHESTER / TRADEMARK / MADE IN U.S.A.” in red letters. Orig lid is attached by 2 added brass hinges with galvanized hook at right front corner. Inside of lid has mixed orig and added markings. Inside of box has 1 brace at mid-point. CONDITION: Fair condition. Exterior has aged stained appearance with weathered erosion and chipping on corners and board ends. Bottom is reinforced with added brass screws. Lid has loose slates with side play. Right margin marked “Agencies:/New York/and San Francisco”. Artist signature “Marie Guise Newcomb” sits above calendar. Bottom margin shows “copyrighted 1893 by The Knapp Co. Lith. N.Y”. Calendar size 28-1/2″ x 14″. Mounted in decorative weathered wood appearing frame on grey matting. Framed size is 33-1/2″ x 18-7/8″. CONDITION: Colors are vivid, showing little fading. Edges have light creasing and tears commensurate with age. Some show rice paper repairs. Top portion has repairs to creases. *FINE HIGH ORIGINAL CONDITION MARLIN MODEL 1893 TAKEDOWN RIFLE IN 38-55 CALIBER.

SN 200094. Cal. 38-55. 26″ tapered oct bbl with full mag, silver blade front sight with buckhorn rear sight. Bbl is marked “Special Smokeless Steel”, top of receiver marked “Marlin Safety”, top tang marked “Model 1893”. Receiver, lever, hammer, buttplate, and takedown extension are all case hardened. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl retains approximately 90-95% orig blued finish with some high edge wear and a couple small areas of loss. Mag tube retains approximately 90% orig blue finish. Receiver and extension retain approximately 85-90% orig case color, particularly bold and vivid on right side of frame, some toning and spotting on left side. Lever retains traces of orig color. Hammer retains most of it’s orig color on sides. Buttplate with approximately 80% orig color starting to tone. Buttstock and forearm are excellent with scattered scratches and handling marks and retain most of their orig finish. Bore is very good, rifling appears strong. Mechanics are fine. *GORGEOUS MARLIN MODEL 1893 DELUXE LEVER ACTION RIFLE.

SN 358542. Cal. 38-55. 28″ part octogon part rnd bbl with full length magazine. Left side of bbl marked “For Black Powder” with usual address and cal marking on top. Deluxe checkered walnut stocks with Creedmore grip and full steel serpentine butt. Forend is nicely checkered in 3-point pattern and wood appears to match nicely however checkering pattern is slightly different from butt and likely recut. Left side of frame is mounted with proper Lyman 21 receiver sight with proper J code on reverse. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl and magazine retain approximately 90% orig blue with scattered losses and minor handling marks. Receiver, hammer and lever retain approximately 70% orig case coloring. Buttplate with traces of orig finish. Buttstock and forearm are very good, checkering as noted above, retain most of a professionally restored finish with scattered light handling marks.
