PAIR OF SEVRES URNS. Lovely pair of dark blue urns is decorated with heavy gold enamel. The center panel depicts a painted scene of a man and a woman sitting on a bench with sheep by their side on one vase. The other vase depicts a man and a woman with a dog and a bird in cage. Both urns have back panels painted with landscape scenes and a building. Each vase has applied brass trim and handles and rests on a brass foot. CARVED WALNUT BOOKCASE. Beautiful carved walnut bookcase has very heavy lion paw feet and rope carved border around bottom. Bottom drawer has carved border with leaf design. Border around glass bookcase door matches that of the bookcase drawer. The support on each side of the door is carved with a nude woman and terminates at the bottom in an acanthus leaf design. FRENCH REPOSSE SILVER BOWL. Extremely ornate French silver bowl has scene in center of musicians playing instruments. The three dimensional reposse figures are nicely detailed. The inside rim of the bowl is beautifully decorated with nice reposse flowers. The bowl is hallmarked on the rim with “N”, a rooster, a Fleur de Lis and one other hallmark that is undiscernible. SILVER DOUBLE INKWELL. Exceptional double inkwell has pierced silver frame on four claw and ball feet with two pierced silver ovals which hold the cut glass and silver topped inkwells. Tray is hallmarked with lion, leopard’s head and a small “b” as well as maker’s mark “T B S” within a shield. SIZE: 10-3/4” x 4-1/4” x 3” t. SILVER COVERED TUREEN. Beautiful covered silver tureen has allover chased design with ram’s heads on each side of the tureen and underplate. Tureen bowl attaches to underplate with two wing nuts. Underside of tureen bowl is hallmarked “M H & Co.” inside a shield, as well as a “P”, a “G”, an “S” and another figure we can not discern. Tureen is finished with a matching silver lid. J. WOLSKI (Polish/German, 20th Century) WOLVES ATTACKING A TROIKA. Oil on board winter scene shows two men in a three-horse driven sleigh being attached by two wolves. One wolf is at front by horses, other has been shot by the man in the back of the sleigh who is holding a gun to his shoulder. All seen in a snow covered winter landscape. Signed lower left “J. UNKNOWN (19th Century) WINTER SCENE WITH RUSSIAN TROOPS. Large oil on canvas Russian scene shows Russian soldiers on horseback and in covered wagons pulled by teams of horses. The men are outfitted in colorful costumes and hold different colored flags. All set on a snow covered winter landscape with gray clouds. Remnants of a signature can be seen on the left but is not legible. Housed in its original pierce carved gesso decorated frame which has been painted gray and has a wide inner lining. Partial framing label from Columbus, Ohio present on frame. Consignor informed us that this was originally purchased in 1919 in New York City and was in the same family until 1992. CARVED WALNUT DESK. Magnificent carved desk has front panel carved in high relief depicting Roman soldiers and a chariot pulled by three rearing horses. The panel is bordered on each side by a three dimensional carving of a Hercules-type character holding the top of the desk on his head. The feet below are carved in the form of the Northwind. The border of the desktop has a simple rope carving, while the working side of the desk has a center drawer and a door on each side. The drawer and doors are carved with a simple geometric border. CARVED OAK CHINA CABINET. Impressive oak china cabinet starts with heavily carved feet with center cherub’s head just under a bottom carved drawer with two stylized fish. Corinthian pillars extend up from the feet on each side of the center glass door. Atop the pillars are two exquisitely carved women, one holding a ball in one hand and the other one is holding a seashell in one hand and a pitcher in the other. WILLIAM JAMES GLACKENS (American, 1870-1938) “ROCKPORT, MASS 1936 NO. 3”. Outstanding oil on board beach scene depicting ten bathers on a sandy and rock strewn beach with large yellow house on rocky point with sailboat off rocks. Foreground scene shows people with multi-colored bathing suits and men wearing hats with summer attire. Child in blue suit plays with white dog. Blue and green ocean has blue hulled white sail sailboat. A wonderful impressionistic scene with vibrant colors. Pencil signed and titled on reverse. Two Adams Davidson Galleries labels affixed to back. One indicating a title “Bathers at Rockport, 1936” and being exhibited in the “Washington Collects Exhibition February 19-April 7 1981” and illustrated as figure 32 in the catalog. The other label, which appears to be newer indicated title “Beach at Rockport”. Housed in a fine replacement gold gesso decorated frame. Accompanying this painting is a signed letter from Ira Glackens dated October 1978 to Anne Denton Blair on his stationary “Dear Annie – This little study of a beach, measuring 12″ x 16″ was painted by father at Rockport, Mass, in 1936. I remember the water as frigid, having visited Pa & Ma for a few days there, & this place was better for painting than bathing! There exists several studies of this place, but feel lucky you do not have to go in that icy water! yours affectionately, Ira Glackens”. Also two receipts from Adams Davidson Gallery dated December 3rd, 1980 and February 12th 1981. REFERENCE: William Glackens and The Eight by Ira Glackens, page 255-256 “W.& E. MONUMENTAL SEVRES URN. Spectacular Sevres urn is magnificently painted with two beautiful maidens at a well surrounded by vegetation and several cupids. The scene extends completely around the base, with cupids on all sides. The neck is decorated with two panels, one with a nude and a cupid and the other with musical instruments done in gold enamel against a brown background. The bottom of the base is decorated with two panels, one with child or cupid and fish, the back with musical instruments. All of this sets on a brass or bronze foot with lion paw feet. The urn is topped with a porcelain lid with bronze pineapple finial. Underneath the lid is marked with the Sevres mark in black and “France” in red. Urn is artist signed “G. Fuchs”. SIZE: 48” t. DEAN CORNWELL (American, 1892-1960) ARRIVAL AT THE INN. Outstanding oil on canvas illustration depicting a gentleman helping a young woman out of a blue 1920’s Roadster. The car sits in front of a Colonial Inn with the Innkeepers standing on the steps. Another man and woman look on. Signed lower left “Dean Cornwell, 21”. Housed in what may be its original gesso decorated frame with liner. Dean Cornwell was an important American illustrator and his work appeared regularly in Redbook, The Saturday Evening Post, Cosmopolitan and Harper’s Bazaar amongst others. His illustrations were used in many stories by some of America’s outstanding artist’s of the day. Accompanying lot is a book on Dean Cornwell “Dean of Illustrators” by Broder. SIZE: 36” x 34”. The piece set with two animal paw front feet, fluted front column surmounted by a capitol with winged women. RIVIERE BRONZE. Spectacular bronze and ivory sculpture features Art Deco woman with bronze fur cape and dress open to the waist has ivory carved torso and head with upstretched arms. MENE FRENCH BRONZE. Spectacular French bronze by Pierre Jules Mene (1810-1871) features a Royal horseman holding the leashes of five hunting dogs walking along side his horse. ANSONIA CRYSTAL REGULATOR. Extremely fine Ansonia crystal regulator has magnificent, yet delicate gilt metal trim with lion paw feet, squared pillars at corners and an openwork dome top. This spectacular pair of urns have rich blue Sevres enameled bodies with Ormolu swan’s heads forming the handles with an Ormolu spray of flowers in the mouth of each swan. ENGLISH COURT CUPBOARD. Outstanding two-part carved Elizabethan style English Court cupboard. This outstanding Court cupboard has bottom section fitted by one large carved door with shamrock carving. Intricate scroll and leaf carved side panels with spiral carved corner columns. A fine carved wood bracket base, sides with inset double panels. The door opens to reveal a single shaped shelf. The top section fitted with two doors having arched central mirrors with intricately carved frame. The side columns and central divider have carvings of Elizabethan style man. PAIR OF BRONZE DORE EWERS. Spectacular pair of ewers in classical style have bronze dore foot and top cast in high relief with grapevines, leaves and clusters and a wonderful ram’s head at the base of the handle. The silver plated body of the ewers are cast in high relief with a parade of partying cherubs pulling a wagon carrying a lovely maiden. One cherub is feeding the maiden grapes. PAIR OF CARVED & PAINTED CIRCUS FIGURE. Outstanding pair of carved wooden circus figure starts with stylized leaf design at base and transforms upwards into a woman’s torso with outstretched arms. This wonderful figure is then coated in gesso and then painted with blue dress and leaves, blonde hair and red lips. SIZE: 65” l. PAIR OF CAMEL CIRCUS FIGURES. Extremely fine pair of camel figures are hand carved wood which is intern covered with gesso and handpainted. Wonderful detail in camel’s face and fur. The camels are three dimensional on front and flat on the back to be used to hang on a wall or a wagon. SIZE: 40” t. ANTONIO NICOLO GASPARO JACOBSEN (American, 1850-1921) PILOT BOAT “NEW YORK”. Outstanding oil on canvas ship portrait of the white hulled pilot boat “New York”. It is seen sailing right to left flying American flag off stern and large blue flag off back mast. Six people are seen on deck and it sails through choppy green/blue sea. Off the port bow is seen a two stack ocean liner flying American flag. Signed lower right “A. Jacobsen 1898” with address. Housed in a black painted and gold lined frame with framers label of “The House of Heydenryk, New York”. SIZE: 22” x 36”. CONDITION: Relined, very good. ANTONIO NICOLO GASPARO JACOBSEN (American, 1850-1921) “MISSOURI U.S.M. DEPT.”. Oil on canvas ship portrait of the hospital ship “Missouri”. The white and green hull single stack ship sails right to left in a choppy blue and green ocean. Three masts having the American flag flying off the stern and a Red Cross flag at front mast. Many sailors are seen on deck and ship has fine detail. Bow and stern have ship name and the painting is signed lower right “A. Jacobsen 1898” with address. This ship sailed during the Spanish/American War. Housed in a replacement gilt molded wood frame. SIZE: 22” x 36”. CONDITION: Very good. Relined, very minor inpainting. 5-71692 (15,000-20,000)

CASED SHIP. Wonderful cased ship model is of “The Alice Mandel of New Bedford”. The three-mast ship seen without sails and fully rigged. Four life boats on side and three on deck. Five people are seen on deck, white and black painted hull. The name is seen at stern under spread eagle stern board. Modern Plexiglas wood framed case. SIZE: Model is 34” l x 25-1/2” h. CASED SHIP MODEL. Fine carved display case has side port hole covers with glass windows and carved anchor panels. Top with a half rope border and painted blue background. UNUSUAL FOLK ART MARQUETRY SLANT FRONT DESK. This unusual desk has elaborate and intricate marquetry inlays throughout. In one piece, having top back section with central bowed door with inlaid two handled urn. Interior fitted with one shelf. A central door flanked by three drawers on each side with geometric inlays. The drawers have an interior locking mechanism. The bottom section with inset fall front design which opens to a large open interior with geometric diamond pattern. The sides of this desk area have two shelves each, again, opened by an interior latch. The desk lid inlaid with eye dazzling block pattern. Underneath is a slide out checkerboard game board slide. Fall front small door and two drawers. All resting on four shaped tapering square legs ending in an H-shaped base. Various wood inlays with birdseye maple panels. SIZE: 59-1/2” h x 38-1/2” w x 23” d. UNSIGNED (19th Century) “HIS HONOR HAMILTON JAY”. Large oil on canvas portrait purported to be Hamilton Jay. The portrait shows an older gentleman seated in a large armchair wearing a blue coat and white wig. He holds a rolled up paper which states “Publick Accounts Paid to the Year 1717 for 136,000,000”. Also inscribed on lower left “In the same year the auditor was prosecuted for 3-4. which one of his clerks took through inadvertency”. Housed in a large gesso decorated antique frame. GORHAM STERLING SILVER TEA SERVICE. Exceptional sterling tea service has wonderful fruit basket design with floral and scroll trim and topped with carved ivory pineapple finials. Set consists of coffeepot, teapot, creamer & sugar and waist bowl on a matching sterling tray. Included with the set is a matching hot water server that is designed to set in a rocking cradle. The cradle is missing. Each piece is marked on the bottom “Gorham Sterling” and engraved “Blanche M. Halle Cleveland O.” Mrs. Halle of the Halle Dept. Store family was a well known member of Cleveland Society. Along with the tea service we have a copy of a book page with a photograph of Mrs. Halle and a bit of family lore. CHARLES STEWART STOBIE (1845-1931) LARGE PORTRAIT OF YOUNG LADY IN GOLD DRESS WRAPPED IN ROSES. Signed lower left and dated 1886. I believe when cleaned this painting will come to life and be an important work by this artist, it is extremely dirty. Three quarter view of young lady with light brown hair facing viewer. OUTSTANDING INLAID ANTIQUE WARDROBE. This knock down wardrobe has four doors, each with fine marquetry decoration with leaf scrolls, flowers and oval medallions having putti in landscape settings. Central double door has mirror backside. Base has eight square tapered legs with bellflower type inlay. ANSONIA CRYSTAL REGULATOR. Outstanding Ansonia crystal regulator has extremely heavy and ornate gold gilt case featuring a ladies head at the top of the case above the dial. LARGE AMPHORA FIGURE. Exceptional Art Nouveau Amphora figure features beautiful maiden holding a flower shape vessel on one shoulder. She is wearing a long flowing gown which flows to the ground and swirls to form a pool of water. Out of the water on each side protrudes a beautiful maiden’s head with long hair. AMPHORA ART NOUVEAU FIGURINE. Spectacular figurine features Art Nouveau maiden emerging from the sea with arms extended and resting on two large aquatic plant leaves. At her feet is the head of another maiden with her hair flowing into the water. Signed on the back “E. Stellmucher”. Impressed on the bottom “Amphora 775” over a “2”. SIZE: 19-1/2″ t. CONDITION: Crack running approx. 3″ from the bottom upwards, on the backside. The crack is obviously a product of firing and not a source of damage. OUTSTANDING TWO PART HUNT SIDEBOARD. The bottom section having two large paneled doors, one carved decorated with three hanging fish, flowers and ribbon. The other door with a sideways urn with flowers and ribbon. This section supported by two short turned feet and square back feet. The sides and central divider carved with open mouth lion and grape clusters. Side by side top drawers surmounted by a beveled edge white marble slab. The top section with a central door having relief carved hanging game bird with powder horn, vine of flowers and ribbon. Similar lion carved columns. CAMPAIGN LAP DESK. Wonderful lap desk is made of rich mahogany and is inlaid with brass straps, corners and center shield. A concealed handle is mounted on each side and one side pulls out a hidden drawer. Box folds open to form a slanted writing surface with fitted boxes at the top. SIZE: Closed dimensions are 21-1/2” x 10-1/4” x 6-3/4” t. CONDITION: Box lids are missing from interior compartments, writing surface has been recovered and a small age crack to top. 5-71752 (800-1,200)

WILLIAM TROST RICHARDS (American, 1833-1905) SEASCAPE. Scene shows multiple waves breaking on sandy beach with rain squalls and sunlight clouds as background. One multiple sail is seen in distance. Reflection of clouds and sun are seen in shallow water on beach. Signed lower left Wm. T. Richards 97. Housed in a fine replacement gesso decorated gilt frame. Provenance: Purchased by Dr. Gustav Langmann for his wife Katherine Zinsser Langmann when they lived in New York City. The painting was purchased for $500 somewhere between 1897 and 1919. It descended from Emily Langmann Vanderderker than to Gene Vanderderker Burgess than to Linda Burgess Eikleberry and Bonnie Burgess. The painting was relined in 1972 by Helmer Erickson Studio in Santa Barbara, California. This painting came directly from the family, sold James D. Julia, Inc. Sale 8/22/02 lot #632 to the present consignor. A fine work by Richards at a time when he was executing his finest works. SIZE: 57-3/4” w x 31-3/4” h. The service sets on a Wallace silver plated two handle tray. Each piece is marked “Gorham Sterling” while the tray is marked “Baroque Wallace Silver Plate”. STERLING SILVER INKWELL. Beautiful sterling silver inkwell has reposse design of Art Nouveau type flowers with a hammered background. Square hinged lid has matching hammer design with raised initials “SG” within a circle. Inkwell has heavy clear glass insert. Signed on bottom “Arthur Bond. Yokohama. HISTORIC SILVER BOWL. Very unusual silver bowl appears to be from Thailand with a band of embossed reposed shields with figures of Thai stylized Buddha’s. Bottom of the bowl is engraved with floral design. Engraved below the Buddha shields is the inscription “To Elizabeth Hamilton Lyon From Mr. & Mrs. Alexander Graham Bell Feb. 9. 1922”. Research shows that Ms. Hamilton Lyon was the daughter of Edmund Lyon, a noted philanthropist who did extensive work with the deaf in New York State. Through this work he became close friends with Alexander Graham Bell. SIZE: 8-1/4” dia x 4-3/4” t. SILVER & GLASS INKWELL. Beautiful cut glass inkwell has swirled pattern with zipper design at peak of each swirl. Glass is mounted in a floral reposse foot and topped with a high domed floral reposse lid. Silver is hallmarked with a “G” and an anchor and stamped “Sterling”. SIZE: 4-1/2” t. MAXFIELD FREDERICK PARRISH (American, 1870-1966) “INTERLUDE”. Unsigned oil over print of the classic Maxfield Parrish painting titled “Interlude”. The original mural was cemented to the wall over a stair landing at the Eastman Theater, Rochester, New York and was painted by Maxfield Parrish in 1922. It has also been referred to as “Music” and “The Lute Players”. The photographic work which prints were made was unsatisfactory due to the difficulty of getting a color photograph of the mural in place. A photographic print was sent to Maxfield Parrish who pasted it onto a piece of pulp board and repainted it in oils the way it should look. Parrish returned it to the printers who used it as a master from which to correct their color separation plates. They then returned it to him. The only parts which are not repainted are in the white areas. This information is found on the back pasted paper which is on Maxfield Parrish Windsor, Vermont stationary and has typed “Estate No. 123” and a pen inscription “Framed under glass 1977 by Maxfield Parrish”. JOHN BOULTBEE (British, 1753-1812) “MY HUNTING DOGS”. Oil on canvas scene shows a black setter type dog next to a white black spotted dog as they come over a small hillside crest and look left. This is against a hillside background under a blue sky with white clouds. Signed twice, once lower left “J. Boultbee”. Other in center. Housed in a shell decorated gesso gold frame. A label on back of the frame indicates artist and title. Other identification numbers are seen on frame and stretcher. SIZE: 25” x 30”. FINE HAND PAINTED DUTCH PUSH SLEIGH. The boat shaped sleigh with side hand painted scenes of frozen water and buildings with skaters, horse drawn sleigh and animals on each side. CARVED WALNUT ROOM SCREEN. This fabulous room screen has three sections. Each identical section having central panel with pierce carved dragons and winged lion mask. C-scrolls and flowers elsewhere. The top solid panel has lion mask with foliate and flowers. The frame decorated with serpent scrolled leaves and mask head. The top crest having carved facing crowned eagle finials and central lion mask with foliate scroll. The two end pieces have a lion carved at very edge. ORIENTAL FIRESCREEN. Exceptional Oriental fire screen has pierced and carved wooden frame holding an unbelievably delicate silk needlework depicting a group of six shrimp embroidered onto an extremely fine and thin silk background in light blue color. When first viewed the screen looks like it has been painted, but when viewed closely it reveals the extremely fine silk needlework. The panel rests in a matching pierced and carved wooden frame. ORIENTAL FIRESCREEN. Gorgeous Oriental fire screen has hand carved wooden frame with Oriental geometric design surrounding the frame. The frame houses a black enamel panel, that on one side is mounted with delicately carved jade figures. One figure is a light green jade vase on a dark green jade pedestal, another depicts a box wrapped with a bow, one is white jade depicting two birds face to face on a delicately carved wooden stand and the final is an Oriental man atop a carved wooden stand. The reverse side of the screen has a beautifully enameled stylistic scene with Oriental houses, mountains, streams and people. The framed panel sets inside an elaborately carved wooden base. MOREAU BRONZE VASE. Wonderful figural vase is encircled with a garden scene of flowers, leaves and vines with dragonflies and a bird finishing the scene. MOREAU BRONZE VASE. Wonderful bronze vase has tree trunk design with flowers, leaves and stems extending up the front of the tree trunk. Sitting on a broken branch on the shoulder of the vase is an elfin like child. The vase rests on a green marble foot with attached brass plaque inscribed “Female Vase by A. Moreau”. Each side of the clock is enameled with the same blue background and depicts a maiden holding a stringed instrument and standing on a crescent moon. AVIATION CLOCK SET. Spectacular figural clock set features cast metal case with angels, birds and an airplane with birds and airplane parts on the ground below. STEUBEN PRESENTATION SCULPTURE. Exceptionally fine Steuben crystal sculpture entitled “Cathedral” by George Thompson 1955 is triangular form in the shape of a tall cathedral. Carved into each of the three sides is a wonderfully detailed robed man standing atop a column. The columns continue upward and again support a carved figure, this time of a robed woman. The wonderful carving and etching on each of the three sides gives the sculpture an outstanding three dimensional effect. Signed on the bottom in script “Steuben”. The piece is housed in its original presentation box with red leather exterior and red velvet and satin interior. TIFFANY STUDIOS FISH LAMP. An extremely rare and important Tiffany Favrile and bronze fish lamp. A pumpkin base supports the shade, which is decorated with five fish in heavily mottled glass. The eyes of each fish are constructed of a striated/confetti type glass to give them a realistic appearance. The gills and tails have a network of filigree overlay to distinguish each fish as a separate subject against the blue to green rippled glass background that represents the water. The fish appear to be swimming in a bed of seaweed, which is represented by many shades of green and amber. The organic formed pumpkin shaped base has five arms and a single conversion socket that illuminates the shade perfectly. Keeping with the organic form, the bottom of the base is gracefully contoured to be reminiscent of lily pads. Adding to the magnificence of this wonderful piece is the stunning, allover green-brown patina on both shade and base. Shade is signed Tiffany Studios New York with a small early tag. TIFFANY TURTLEBACK AND PRISM MOORISH TABLE LAMP. This very important and massive lamp begins with four turtleback shades enhanced by pierced open work. The turtlebacks are a highly desirable platinum chartreuse color that is picked up beautifully by the matching glass prisms surrounding the bottom of each shade. The supporting bronze base begins with six cat’s paw on pedestal feet and graduates up into an Eiffel Tower midsection. From this midsection, four sockets properly illuminate the four Moorish shades. IMPORTANT PAIRPOINT APPLE TREE LAMP. As pictured on the cover of the book “Pairpoint Lamps” by Edward and Sheila Malakoff, the Pairpoint Apple Tree has always been considered to be one of Pairpoint’s finest examples of mold blown lamps. The example being offered here shows a multitude of puffed out apples in various stages of ripeness. The apples are painted in colors of green, yellow, orange, and red. Also shown on the shade are bees amongst the apple tree’s foliage. One entire side of the shade depicts apple blossoms in full bloom with large colorful butterflies. LOETZ TABLE LAMP. Highly unusual Loetz table lamp begins with a base that is made to represent two Art Nouveau stylized vines with berries which meet to form a ring whereupon a large Loetz shade rests. This beautiful globe has a blue iridescent platinum finish with a green interior. The base carries a chocolate brown patina finish and is signed on one side of foot “Gurschner” on the other side “Depose”. SIZE: Shade is 10″ dia. Overall height is 24″. BRONZE & WOOD FOUNTAIN LAMP. Very impressive bronze fountain design has horses and shells extending from a boulder-like body. Above each extended shell is a grotesque face with open mouth, probably designed to spill water. Rearing horses have oversized stylized hoofs. Above the horses and shells is a bronze shell shaped reservoir with inverted swans on each side. The center of the reservoir has a three tier glass bowl which holds an eight arm gilt light fixture. The reservoir is surrounded by pressed glass decoration designed to look like flowing water or icicles. The bronze fountain is mounted on a scrolled four legged base with applied bronze acanthus leaves at the bottom. SIZE: Approx. 78” t. CONDITION: Shades missing and glass bowl is cracked. DAUM NANCY PADDED AND WHEEL CARVED CROCUS VASE. The background is “hammered metal” or martele, which was produced by a wheel cutting.
